Bottle… Tampa “Farewell to Sebletitje” Tasting… Cloudy burnt-orange ale with a small, wispy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The hopped up bouquet presents loads of citrus fruit and pine alongside more subtle nuances of toffee, raw oak, sugar cookie and vanilla. A hint vegetal and herbal. Medium to full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is very hoppy, but decently balanced by a caramel and toffee undertone. Short, crisp, refreshing beer. Tastes like just a really nice, hopped-up session beer. I’m surprised to see the abv is nearly 7%. Well done! Bottle courtesy of giarcsr. Thanks, Ryan!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Fairly clear, reddish brown appearance with a light tan head. Toasty, caramel malty, mildly woody, moderately piney/citrusy hoppy aroma. Creamy caramel malty, fairly bitter, pretty big piney/citrusy hoppy, mildly oaky flavor. Easy drinking but nothing too exciting.

"Nice malty brew that still has a pretty decent citrusy hop bill. Caramel, toast and a little vanilla from the oak in the fore. Had with some awesome bigger brews from the Bruery, so this suffered a bit, but still quite nice. I think I’d enjoy this solo and will seek out again."

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at The Bruery. Muddy burnt orange pour. Medium to weak foam. Nose is hefty sage and white pepper. Bright and herbal. Taste is bright lemon and lime, not sticky, fairy dry and dusty with bitter rind and heavy coriander. Good, refreshing despite appearance. Bright herbs abound. Shockingly different than expected.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at the brewpub. Amber pour with a touch of reddish highlights. Frothy head. Citrus hops jump out on the nose - very nice! A little caramel sweetness and a touch of oak. Really nice brew.

Bottle, brought home from the brewery and shared by thephantomhennes during our epic gaming weekend. Lovely red-orange hue with a massive white head that leaves sheets of lace. Oaky vanilla toffee, sweet citrus and stonefruits, grassy herbs, moderate bitterness. Very rounded mouthfeel, very drinkable. Delicious.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from a trade that I drank with Max and Andy prior to our Montreal and VT trip. Pours a lightly hazed amber red with a medium to large white beige head. Some slight age on it, but that’s my fault. Malt, toast. I don’t really get the oak or much else. Medium bodied, toast, malt. Easy drinking but really not a lot going on.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from bytemesis- thanks again! Pours a hazed amber with a big, frothy off-white head that eventually settles unevenly and laces the glass. Aroma of herbs, grass, oak, toffee, grapefruit peel, earth, and dust. Complex an dry on the nose. Flavor of oak, dried fruits, toffee, brown sugar, mellow citrus, herbs and leaves, and a bit of vanilla. Medium-bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This is excellent. Really surpassed expectations. As complex an amber ale as I’ve ever had.
