75% American Red Ale, 25% Ale Aged in American Oak Barrels. A brash American Red ale, dripping with citrusy Centennial hops, mellowed by a touch of oak. Aromas of toffee, citrus, crushed herbs, vanilla and fresh-sawn oak. Complex!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, tangerine, orange rind, toast, toffee, floral, grass, bread, clove, oak, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and very balanced hop, malt, and barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, orange rind, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, clove, bread, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, citrus, citrus zest, floral, grass, toast, toffee, light pine, oak, clove, vanilla, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome balance of hop and malt flavors with moderate oak barrel presence; with a nearly perfect hop/malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a creamy, slightly sticky, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an awesome red ale! All around great balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors with moderate barrel presence; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

This is one of the best of the year for me. Smell of fresh cut wood and fruit in the aroma. Spicy character with medium hop bitterness and a lovely note of wine in the mix. Hazy red/brown in color. The lable does not lie. 75% red ale and 25% aged. Works very well together.

Appearance: Quietly pours out a hazed, amber-tan body with a creamyish, off-white head. Smell: Oaky, earthy aroma from the American oak barrels rounded by some soft, sweet-scented light caramel, a faint breadiness, and juicy citrus fruit peelings. Taste: Sweetish flavors of caramel and candy made from orange blossom honey. Touch of apricot. In creaks a spicy, zesty, earthy toasted oak wood character, lightly tannic, and yielding a very small, very distant hint of vanilla. Citrusy, lightly floral hops with a modest amount of bitterness. Preserved oakiness on the drying, fruity finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: It’s pretty tasty. The restrained hop bitterness allows the quarter-oak to come forward a bit more, which I like, though hopheads may be left disdainfully shrugging their shoulders at this one.

Shared at Pre Sex. This beer was candy for me, delicious candy. Pours a light clean red with a mild chill haze and a wispy sandstone tan head. Nose is extremely floral and ephemeral with a wonderful candylike sweetness. Grapefruit zest and brown sugar....Flavor is extremely floral with a definitive rose character and notes of citrus rind, caramel, and vanilla. Light spicy palate. Me rikey.

Lightly cloudy reddish pour, big huge puffy off white head. Citrus aroma hits first, followed by some spices, light toothpick notes, unripe apricot, and some caramel. Flavor has some carraway notes, caramel, citrus peel, sawdust, resin, golden raisins. Not bad at all.

Huge chunky pour, had to wait forever to get this in the glass, but once it was in there, a beauty. Definate oak in the nose, but some stong hops as well. Just to put it out there, not much of a fan of the oak-aged beers yet, but this may change me. It wasn’t overpowering with the oak, just a suttleness that adds a ton of character to the 6.9% brew, which is welcomed compared to many of the other over the top oakey brew on the market. This won me over on drinkablility, very easy to put down, and enjoy all of the flavors, and not be worried about being ripped, good stuff.

A - Pours an almost clear reddish-brown with a finger of frothy tannish head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some thick lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet lightly toasted caramel malts, toffee, oak, vanilla, and citrus hops. T - Starts off with a mix of rich caramel malts with some oak and some citrus hops and light bitterness. Through the middle, some strong vanilla notes come through with a bit more citrus hop flavor and some toasted caramel malt. The finish is a mix of oak, vanilla, sweet caramel, and some citrus hops. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and vanilla finish. D - Very drinkable. The barrel aging really adds a great dimension of complexity to the beer that starys very balanced with the rest of the flavors.
