Tap room - Nice roast coffee bean. Clear copper and a decent light beige head. Coffee and some malts with a long grain like finish.

750ml bottle. Poured a deep and cloudy amber color (almost a brownish) and a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of coffee grounds, caramel, fruity, wood, and earth. Tastes of vanilla, caramel, brown sugary sweetness, coffee, and citrus. More coffee in the aroma vs. the tastes with the alcohol overall well hidden.

Dark brown pour, coffee and caramel, lower hop levels, it is a decent brew but nothing amazing.

Brown pour, light tan head. Big beer with huge coffee and toffee flavors up front, vanilla has faded in this one from the coffee. Very light roasty tones, brown sugar. Very tasty but even better with a splash of Mash.

Bottle @ Mattís house from our Reserve Society membership. Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a thin light brown head. Really heavy Foldgers coffee, caramel, light bourbon, a touch fruity aroma. A bit goopy sweet, burnt coffee, caramel, toffee, bourbon flavor. Get buzzed quick.

750ml bottle, thanks to FlandersNed! Shared with local ratebeerians. 2013 bottle. Half hazy brown / red color. Thin off-white grayish head. Spread and dots of lace. Amazing huge coffee roast, fresh ground nose. Very nice vanilla. Aromas work awesomely with each other. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, minimal sweet, nice dryness. Awesome coffee barley wine. Delicious vanilla and coffee aroma, and a nice big bitterness, nearly no sweetness. Awesome stuff. So good.

Iím gonna go ahead and guess Portola Coffee Labs makes some kick ass coffee. Wonderful blast of fresh coffee, bourbon, oak and malt. The coffee cuts right through the barrel sweetness from the "base" Mash, tempering both the sweetness and the alcohol. Ridiculously smooth, deeeeelicious, and just awesome in every way. Before yesterday I didnít know this existed and today itís my new favorite beer from one of my favorite breweries."

Almost no head; dark brown, reddish hightlighted beer. Pure cold coffee nose, beer remaining hidden for some time. Cold coffee, sharpened with alcohol. Sharp, hot, astringent. For an utter coffee abstainer as me, unpalatable.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, slight oak, big coffee, hints of earth, big coffee, touch of dark cocoa, hints of dark slight funky coffee. Tatse was weird funky earth, slight funky grounds, hints of folgers grounds, hints of earth, finishing fairly bitter, dry, very coffee grounds. No thanks.

750 ml bottle shared by dudeabide- thanks again, Nate! Pours a semi-cloudy amber with a small beige head. Aroma of nice fresh roasted coffee, oak, caramel, bourbon, toasted sugar, and earth. The flavor is mostly the same but doesnít work on quite the same level. Definitely some warmth to this one. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a toasty, earthy, warming mouthfeel. Nice barrel-aged coffee barley wine.
