Bomber shared with friends. Pours brown with a beige head. Very coffee forward, with some caramel and vanilla. Flavor is all coffee, which is too bad because regular Mash was quite good. Some faint vanilla and caramel in there. Not great.

Bottle. Pours a brown color, with a tannish head. Very sweet similar to Mash, caramel malt, light dried dark fruit, vanilla and bourbon, and mostly covered by huge coffee flavor. The coffee really takes over the beer. Quite boozy. Not my favorite.

Bottle. The pour is amber. The aroma is a good mix of bourbon and coffee. The taste is a little disappointing overall. The mix just doesn't work for me. Average, like regular mash better.

Bottle. Pour is clear brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and light espresso notes. A hint of bitter chocolate and herbs as well. Flavor is caramel malt, herbal coffee notes, and light bitter coffee. Very green and vegetal. Hides alcohol well. Strange flavor.

Side by side with regular mash. vanilla in mash is totally gone. appearance is the same (golden, copper) I get cold pressed coffee on the nose and in taste, almost old acidic coffee taste which is a really big bummer. Diluted Mash & grind with a bit of Mash and that helped immensely.

Bottle at Matt’s with friends. Pour is murky brown with a small tan head that quickly dissipated. Over roasted folgers coffee, green peppers, toffee, earthy, somewhat bready, and caramelly aroma. Taste is huge coffee, peppers, cocoa, brown sugar, roasty, and caramel. Watery mouthfeel with soft carbonation. The coffee is way overdone. Meh.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Murky mahogany & dingy brown pour with a beige head that transforms to a thin ring in just moments. Aroma is mostly made of roasted, slightly astringent coffee beans, somewhat acrid in nature. Light oak & booze underneath, with even lighter notes of caramel & buttery toffee. But the cold diner-esque coffee vibe is the dominant aroma. Taste is the same way, overrun by coffee, lightly sweet & backed with a bit of caramel & toffee that peaks through from the base barleywine. I get some notes of anise, cocoa, & oak occasionally, but again, it seems the coffee addition has obliterated the base beer. Lightly astringent & sharp in the finish. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my jam, either. Expected greatness, turns out it was merely decent.

Dark brown pour, coffee and caramel, lower hop levels, it is a decent brew but nothing amazing.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, slight oak, big coffee, hints of earth, big coffee, touch of dark cocoa, hints of dark slight funky coffee. Tatse was weird funky earth, slight funky grounds, hints of folgers grounds, hints of earth, finishing fairly bitter, dry, very coffee grounds. No thanks.
