An English Barleywine aged in Bourbon barrels, Mash is an intense yet balanced beer with notes of burnt caramel, toasted bread, ripe pear, dried figs, vanilla, toasted coconut and finishes with oak tannin. This has become an instant favorite around the brewery due to its balance, subtle complexities and overwhelming deliciousness.

Bottled. Pours slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted caramel, bourbon, vanilla and dried dark fruits. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and slightly bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. An excellent Barley. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Aroma: lots of bourbon but not too overwhelming; Appearance: dark amber with lots of particulates suspended mid-glass; Taste: nicely complex with bourbon up front that mellows into wood, caramel and vanilla; significant booziness; Palate: very heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: quite good, although intense. Would get again if not so expensive.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted, caramel and bread for the malt, moderate orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with date, fig and maple syrup in the background. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is clear burgundy. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy with a soft to lively carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. A lot of depth and complexity, but nothing over the top in this Barley Wine.

10th July 2016. Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting Part 2: Brew Pub Le Sec. Misty golden amber pour, the head being an off-white affair. This sweet brew soon found a friend with sweet tooth even before I took a sip. The aroma was of caramel soaked hedgerow fruits in bourbon barrels. The taste similar, with a more red wine like flavour than the nose suggested, very drinkable.

Bottled@PBF XI. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, some fruits, mild wooden and nectary notes as well as some toffee. Flavour is fruity, floral, caramelly, wooden and some toffeeish notes. Nice wooden dry too. Hides the abv rather well in the flavour.

Pours a hazy golden brown from the bomber with thin ring of bubbly off-white head. Aroma of big malty sweetness and a nice barrel vanilla behind. Taste follows, caramel and vanilla, a hint of molasses and dark fruit, lots of booze, lots of barrel, lots of sweet. Solid, a bit sweet and boozy, but to be expected.
