COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Melange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.

Dark brown pour with little head. Deep bourbon nots on the noise, taste is boozy but way too sweet all over. Messy messy beer

2011 bottle from a trade a long time ago over my birthday weekend May, 2015. Dark reddish brown. Nose of sweet vanilla, bourbon, light baking spices. Rich toffee, some dark dried fruit, light milk chocolate, and a lot of cinnamon and barrel spice as it warmed. Had it with símores and it held up quite well, even got spicier. Really good, but a sweet and hot and probably on itís way out.

Shared 2014 bottle by a friend. Poured a cola to more chesnut Brown colour with a small non lasting off ring. Leading into Some alcohol legs on the Side. Nose is instantly hit with sweet bourbon, sweet notice of toffee, caramel, bourbon covered raisins, nutmeg, alcohol spice, small notice of chocolate, oak, and more sticky bourbon in the end. More red fruits as itís starting to warm. Pretty sweet finish. Wich i kind of like. To bad there is not as much black tuesday notice as i was expecting

Bottle: Dark mahogany, oily pour with almost no head. Very, very fine khaki-colored trace. Aroma is huge, a mťnage a trois of barrel-aging, stout, & barley wine. Burnt caramel, figs, vanilla, boozy bourbon, spicy oak, toffee, molasses, butterscotch, prunes, faint maple syrup, underlying roast, a hint of dark cocoa powder, a touch of anise, faint leather, black cherry. Very big & complex. Flavor is the same. Itís not "HOT" but itís very, very warming. Bourbon forward with lots of oaky tannins, spicy wood, vanillin, & hints of sherry. Cocoa dust, toffee, roasted malts, caramel, raisins, figs covered in brown sugar & dipped in cognac. A dessert beer, & a slow sipper no doubt. But a very good one.

Smells like a sweet, hot mess, but the palate is magic. Complex, developing sweetness that range from vanilla and chocolate to dried fruit, toffee cake and candy. Fabulous desert.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2015 750 ml waxed bottle (2013 Edition bottled 10/28/2013) poured into a snifter. Dark brownish with a finger of beige to light tan head. Aromas of rich caramel, toffee, dark fruit, slight bourbon. Tastes of brown sugar, rich milk chocolate, dark fruit, caramel, a little oak and bourbon thatís possibly faded from age. Very sweet and rich with some booze. Medium body with a dry and warm finish. Medium-low carbonation. Nice blend.

Bottle. Vintage 2013. Apperance is light brown with white head. Aroma is a mix of choclate, cherries, oak, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste is rich vanilla up front, followed by oak mixed in with some light vinious undertones. Finshes with a bit of light tartness and vanilla, lingering heat from the ABV. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, medium carbonatioin. This is a really nice blend, I actually didnt find it too sweet but itís certainly would be tough to take down a whole bottle on your own.

Bottle. 2011 from Shane. Thanks! A: Opaque mahogany, thin cappuccino head, legs. N: Bourbon, sherry, caramel, port, cocoa, vanilla, maybe some rum, brown sugar, more sugars, T: Super sweet, yet not cloying. Only sweet. M: Heavy body, oily and slick, fuzzy carbonation. There is most definitely alcohol. O: Gigantic sweetie. Big caramel and easy enough to drink. Not much to compare it to.

Bottle to glass. Pours a cloudy deep nut brown color with a thin light tan head. Aroma is boozy, bourbon, toffee, vanilla. Flavor is hot, bourbon, light toffee and toasted malts. Huge beer with a strong boozy burn in the finish. Tasty, but these beers always have a massive feel. Hard to finish a bottle without splitting it with a fee friends.

2012 vintage poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is loaded with caramel, toffee and burnt sugar with hints of chocolate and roast. Moderate notes of dried figs, prunes and dates with raisin as well. Medium light oak character with faint vanilla and some spice. Pours a murky, burnt amber with a small, fairly thick, dark tan head that recedes to a thin film that lingers in the center and on the edges. Medium light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with a stupidly large amount of dark caramel and toffee with lighter notes of toasted bread and burnt sugar. Medium light chocolate character and faint roast. Lots of dark fruit, again most of it being figs, prunes, dates and raisins. Medium light oak note and light vanilla with some peppery spice notes. Medium light alcohol in the finish with lingering sweetness, burnt sugar and dried fruits. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a big, sweet beer with a ton of flavor and character. Lots of dark fruit with caramel, toffee and tootsie rolls. Not something you would necessarily want to drink by yourself.
