4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served from a bottle at the Stone 16th Anniversary Celebration. The appearance is a cloudy sediment filled dark brown. Sweet malts and oak bourbon fill the nose. The flavors enter with a healthy dose of sweet malts followed by bourbon, oak, molasses, and buttery vanilla. Nice full lightly creamy and smooth mouth. Real good beer, would like to retry without the bottom dregs.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Unclear deep amber color with a tan head. Vinous, bready and raisin aroma. Full body. A bit sweet and a moderate bitterness. Well the bitterness maybe drowns in the sweetness. Fruity, raisins, vanilla and oak in the flavor. Powerful ale. Also some alcohol coming up. Melange is butter in Norway. So I was a bit disappointed. Not much butter here. Well I do not like butter in beer anyway. Lovely balance at 15%!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 Bottle courtesy of marsiblursi. Pours dark brown with a small offwhite head that quickly dissipates while leaving some small spotty trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and boozy with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, maple syrup, charred wood, alcohol, figs, raisins, glue and hints of paint thinner. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and boozy with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, raisins in rum, prunes, figs, hay, charred wood, vanilla, brandy, madeira wine, alcohol and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and boozy with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, raisins in rum, figs, dates, prunes, hay, soil and alcohol. Way too sweet and boozy but has some redeeming complexity that would make me love to sip on this again in the future.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Murky dark copper-brown color with very little head. Aroma is rich and awesome. Toffee, caramel, cherries, dates, licorice, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, and burnt brown sugar. Tastes great too. Big barrel influence without being too hot or boozy. All the aromas come through balanced well. Moderate to strong sweetness is toned down by the booze. Syrupy mouthfeel. Full body. Probably my favorite Bruery beer so far.

Brown pour with watery whitish head and lace. Aroma is brown sugar, roasted malt, dark fruit and oaky. Flavor is super sweet malt, brown sugar, dark fruity esters, nice abv warmth masked well by the sweet malt. A touch of BB with a flat lite finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. a very nice beer

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Ginger Man. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Rich malty sweetness, bourbon, chocolate, molasses and boozy sweetness, and caramel shews. Like a boozy chocolate candy. Ooof, I tend to like big overly sweet beers more than most, but this one is a bit too much.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
"Possibly the most I’ve ever paid retail, but worth it...one of my friend Dave’s favorite beers, period. That alone is worth it. I really really liked it. though it’s not quite in the upper stratosphere of the elite, it IS elite. Tempers a little of the sweetness of the slightly stronger Black Tuesday, and adds a little depth, though BT isn’t exactly lacking there. Womderful, wonderful aroma (between a 9 & 10). Body is warming, still slightly cloying. Flavor (and aroma) a nice mix of vanilla, bourbon, roasted and sweet malts, sugary sweetness, tofee and deep fruits. One that I could sip all night for sure. I was juuust about ready to give it a 4.5, but I can’t quite say I straight out like it BETTER than BT, so for now a 4.4. One more bottle that’ll come out in the winter... "
