Another great beer from the bottle sharing at Dark Lord Day 2014. Poured into my tasting glass it was brown with tan head. Nose of coffee and alcohol. Not sure much alcohol is there but you can sure smell it. Medium in body. The flavor is coffee first but there is much more going on with vanilla and oak showing as well. Finish is coffee bitter with again the alcohol present. Not sure how much alcohol is here, but my sense is there is a lot. Good stuff

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a dark amber color with a tan head. The aroma was boozy with coffee and sweet bourbon heat. The taste was sweet and sugary with bourbon, brown sugar, coffee grounds and a sugary finish. Very tasty.

750ml bottle. 2013 vintage. Poured a hazy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, juicy dark fruits, bourbon, vanilla, and woody. Tastes of vanilla, marshmallows, caramel, coffee, creme, some brown sugar, and bourbon. Alcohol well hidden - or do I have a problem :)

Hazy caramel brown in color.... Aroma of toffee, cocoa, coffee... Flavor is similar to melange no 3, lots of caramel, sticky body akin to the 3, with slight coffee notes, bitterness on palate... Oak, bourbon, vanilla... Very good, but melange 3 was slightly better ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Served alongside Melange No. 3. The beer is light brown with a small beige cap. Watery coffee appearance. Much lighter and thinner looking than Melange No. 3. The aroma brings a healthy dose of java along with prominent alcohol. Oak and vanilla play supporting roles. Coffee and rich, heavy beer. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Not as amazing as I had hoped, but alas, my expectations were too high. While I do prefer Melange No. 3 over 8, this is certainly a tasty brew.

750 ML bottle Clear dark brown, short lived off white head that fell to a collar. Green coffee, green capsicum, dark fruit, bourbon and oak. Coffee really dominates and overwhelms the base beer. Very spicy and just plain unbalanced.

This beer is a hazy brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Fruit, alcohol and coffee in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of dark fruit, bourbon, caramel and earthy coffee. The finish is roast coffee and oak. Wasn’t sure to make of it at first, but it ended up being pretty good.

At the Sunday after Thanksgiving taste. This good, but far from great. The coffee just overpowers everything else. Sweet and fruity with fresh coffee beans. Intense heartburn. Tasty, but didn’t want more than a tase.

Bottle. Clear amber pour with an off white head. Big caramel malt aromas. Sweet caramel malts, toffee, maple syrup. Boozy heat. Thin body. Decent mouthfeel. Same old story from the bruery. If you’ve had one, you’ve had them all….
