Sampled on tap at The Bruery Provision. The appearance is a golden hue. The flavors and aromas are Belgium forward with a definite hop presence but the Belgium first just doesn’t do it for me.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2011 jason opened this 7/29/10 at dak’s. aroma and flavor of belgian yeasty goodness, pale malt, orange, lemon, wood, lots of hoppy treats, a little skunk and grass. surprisingly dry, crisp, refreshing and terribly easy to put away. 8/4/8/8/16/4.0

9/30/10 on cask at papago hazy maple yellow with an off white head... it smells of belgian-y yeast, spice, tart white grape juice, spice, citrusy hops, florals and pale malt. the flavor is largely the same along with some carrot-like vegetal earthiness. it has a crisp medium body even with the cask texture. 7/4/7/3/15/3.6

Appearance: orange with a kiss of amber under a fluffy white head. Lingers while sticking most vehemently to sides of glass. Swirls with lace.
Nose: hops in all her whole cone leafy resinous freshness. Pine and Christmas trees, oh my. Freshly splintered wood with pine tree bark. Waxy citrus skin dries while crystallized sugar coated melba toast crunches. Hay and grass, dry of course, linger in the back along with white grapefruit pith. Definitely hop forward with little to no apparent Belgian spiciness.
Palate: full frothy mouthfeel and much more subdued than the nose implied. Orange sherbet forward with an orange pithy finish. Orange honey and honeycomb sweetness; hop resins mingle with orange stickiness. Grass and hay in my breath. Melds together better as she warms up. Hops reside underneath. Melba toast crunch in the back.
Final Thoughts: definitely an intriguing take on the Belgian golden ale style. Love the hops in all their unabashed glory in this beer though they do overwhelm her Belgian side a wee bit. Overall mighty tasty and thirst quenching. Or is that inducing?

(750ml bottle). Pours hazy golden color with 1 finger white head. Nice carbonation and some nice lacing. Aroma of ripe peach, apricots. Taste is sweet with a light hoppy finish and the sweetness comes back. Somewhat perfumy. Medium bodied with oily texture. Active carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Different from many of the Belgian golden ales, but the ’pit’ fruit aspect makes it pretty nice

Tasted from 750mL bottle purchased at Lush West Town. Pours clear golden with a thick fluffy white head that slowly recedes to a thick and fluffy lace. The nose is caramel malt and bread yeast with an herbaceous green hops aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with the caramel malt and yeast coming through nicely. There is more fruitiness than I expected with fresh orange and lemon coming through nicely and finishing with a bit of hops bitterness. The body is medium with an oily texture, average carbonation, and a long bitter and caramel finish.

Sampled at Fall Gerryfest 2010. Pours a very murky gold/rust color with a thick and foamy off-white head. A floral aroma that features loads of juicy tangerines, grapefruits, honey, and spice. Goes down medium to full-bodied and a bit creamy. The flavour starts with plenty of caramel and a bit of biscuity maltiness. Vanilla and creamy chai tea-like flavors follow. Grapefruits, orange rinds, and a hint of rye at the end. A drying finish that lingers. The perfect amount of warming booziness and spiciness throughout. A very nice surprise.
