Belgian-style ale, golden and hoppy. Not quite evil, yet not to be trusted, this Golden Ale is effervescent, dry, hoppy and crisp-you’ll want to keep an eye out. (ABV: 8.5%, IBU: 35, SRM: 4, Format: 750 mL bottles and draft)

Bottle: Pours a light orange color with a nice head. The nose is fresh and floral, some big hop notes and underlying yeastiness. The flavor is fairly tame and controlled with some light maltiness to pair with the yeast and a fresh hoppy tail. Crisp and clean, but seems a bit muted to me.

Pours a light yellow, just a bit of haze with a pig pillowy head that hangs around lacing the glass all the way to the end. The aroma is fruity with the hop presence lingering in the background. The flavor is sweet with some Belgian style spice and maybe a bit of banana which becomes much more hoppy and bitter especially as it warms. Very dry and refreshing. Nice carbonation keeps the palate clean and crisp.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2011 Bottled 75cl. Ordered from www.erzbierschof.ch. It pours a hazy orange beer with a tall, nicely remaining head. Lovely, deeply inviting yeasty nose which is reminiscent of quince, resinous hops, grapefruit and pine. Delicate creamy palate. Medium to full bodied. Good head retention. Great hop profile. Dry finish which is reminiscent of quince. Flawless and deeply pleasant.

Enjoyed at the Bruery. A hazy yellow pour producing a nice head which lingered and left some good lacing. Aromas of citrus fruits Belgium yeasts and spices. Tastes refreshingly crisp and dry. Slightly sweet with little hop bitterness. Not much malt pressence. Finishes somewhat sweet but nicely dry.

Tap at Tops Tempe, AZ. Pale yellow and slightly hazy. Nose is a bit yeasty, very mild with subdued spiciness. Taste is the same with a sprightly, highly carbonated body. Light and subtle with the alcohol well hidden. Nice Belgian single and very dangerous.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Dark gold in colour with strong carbonation. Aromas are of mandarin orange, Bartlett pear, nettles, and catty hops. Very dry on the palate with flavours of over-ripe mandarin, quackgrass, black pepper, and earth. The sweet citrus and catty/grassy hop combo didn’t work all that well for me. Average overall.

bottle sample- golden pour with excellent clarity and moderate head. Nose- grassy hops, apples, bready. Taste- pear, citrus and spice. Finish steers towards a boozy slightly astringent and metallic dryness. Body and mouthfeel is about right for style.

Poured a slightly hazy golden yellow with a tall foamy white head. There were some carbonation bubbles rising up in the glass. There was a nice floral aroma along with some lemony citrus notes and some bread scents. As the head reduced it became more creamy. The initial taste was clean and crisp with a nice hops citrus bitterness. The hops mellowed out in the middle and came back again for a nice crisp refreshing finish. The head eventually went down to about 1/4 inch and left some light lacing. Very nice quencing, refreshing beer.

Draft at Haymarket. Pours a quite attractive slightly hazed Gold with a fluffy white head. I guessing this is a take on a Golden Strong ale. Nose is pleasingly floral, slight bread note and nice Belgian yeast character. Very clean. On taste, firm and welcomed bitterness, herbal/floral hops dominate. I don’t get any of the sweetness that others have mentioned, just some alcohol notes that are welcomed. The bitterness and dry fermentation is very solid. This is a very good interpretation of the style, imo. Nice.

On draft. Pretty golden color with thick bubbly head. Brownish tints with a hazy center. Slightly hoppy aroma with hints of fruit. Yeasty flavor with a slight dry hop flavor. Light body.
