Belgian-style ale, golden and hoppy. Not quite evil, yet not to be trusted, this Golden Ale is effervescent, dry, hoppy and crisp-youíll want to keep an eye out. (ABV: 8.5%, IBU: 35, SRM: 4, Format: 750 mL bottles and draft)

Lovely golden pour with a massive whipped cream white head. The fermentation is clearly the focus here as is true to style. The malt and hop characters are background necessities but the carbonation and estery qualities are what really matter here. Itís not as bright or zesty as I have come to expect from the standard Belgian Strong/Golden ale, thus the lower palate and taste scores. I would buy this again.

Tap @ Saraveza... Poured clear, pale golden with a thick, puffy, white head. Nose has some spiced yeast tones, mild grassiness, and some malt. Dry, subtle mouthfeel. Pretty true to style, some citrus, apples, candied malt sweetness, esters, earthy, black pepper spices, herbal, and yeasty.

750 ml. bottle- Pours straw golden with a huge 3 finger white head and foamy rings of lacework, aroma is piney hops and some pepper. This is a confusing beer, which I seem to get a lot from this brewery, all their beers are very interesting and complex, but I am yet to find one that I think is a masterpiece. The flavor is more hop forward than your average Belgian beer, in fact I would even call it hoppy, but the beer has only 35 IBUís, less than your average IPA, how do they do it? The best way to describe it is what the bottle says "Belgian-style ale, golden and hoppy". It has a smoothness to it as well, creamy and medium body, carbonation is spot on for the style, medium high. The duvel tripel hop is superior (even though they got the same rating?), but this is the best beer that Iíve had from The Bruery, so far!

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, IL. Pours a clear, golden yellow colored body with a finger-width, dense and foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is lemon and pineapple pines with a light resin and lots of Belgian, estery yeastiness. Very floral with a nice bready, light caramel maltiness. Some apples, pears, and a touch of pepper. Flavor is similar. Belgian yeast, some banana esters, lemony pines, a slight resin, a light bready malt, and a hint of apple. Some pepper and florals kick up at the end as this finishes with a sweeter Belgian yeast and a very dry, medium, piney hop bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a smooth, medium-light body and soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice beer. Crisp and flavorful with a solid hopping and Belgian yeast. Dry and easy drinking. Nice one.

Bottle: Pours a light orange color with a nice head. The nose is fresh and floral, some big hop notes and underlying yeastiness. The flavor is fairly tame and controlled with some light maltiness to pair with the yeast and a fresh hoppy tail. Crisp and clean, but seems a bit muted to me.

Pours a light yellow, just a bit of haze with a pig pillowy head that hangs around lacing the glass all the way to the end. The aroma is fruity with the hop presence lingering in the background. The flavor is sweet with some Belgian style spice and maybe a bit of banana which becomes much more hoppy and bitter especially as it warms. Very dry and refreshing. Nice carbonation keeps the palate clean and crisp.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2011 Bottled 75cl. Ordered from www.erzbierschof.ch. It pours a hazy orange beer with a tall, nicely remaining head. Lovely, deeply inviting yeasty nose which is reminiscent of quince, resinous hops, grapefruit and pine. Delicate creamy palate. Medium to full bodied. Good head retention. Great hop profile. Dry finish which is reminiscent of quince. Flawless and deeply pleasant.

Enjoyed at the Bruery. A hazy yellow pour producing a nice head which lingered and left some good lacing. Aromas of citrus fruits Belgium yeasts and spices. Tastes refreshingly crisp and dry. Slightly sweet with little hop bitterness. Not much malt pressence. Finishes somewhat sweet but nicely dry.

Tap at Tops Tempe, AZ. Pale yellow and slightly hazy. Nose is a bit yeasty, very mild with subdued spiciness. Taste is the same with a sprightly, highly carbonated body. Light and subtle with the alcohol well hidden. Nice Belgian single and very dangerous.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Dark gold in colour with strong carbonation. Aromas are of mandarin orange, Bartlett pear, nettles, and catty hops. Very dry on the palate with flavours of over-ripe mandarin, quackgrass, black pepper, and earth. The sweet citrus and catty/grassy hop combo didnít work all that well for me. Average overall.
