COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horchata is a traditional, sweet, milky drink originating in Spain and Latin America that has become quite popular in Southern California, particularly with Mexican cuisine. Our take on the traditionally non-alcoholic drink is a blonde ale brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon and fresh vanilla beans along with lactose for a litle extra creamy character. If you didnt know better, youd think it was carbonated horchata.

750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have a sweet malty character, smooth, some vanilla, cinnamon spices, creamy, almost soda like, interesting brew, I am apparently liking this better than most.

"i like the bread pudding reference by Stoutlover, though I wouldnt have been able to express that myself. i will admit to at first being let down that this did not taste as much like horchata as Id hoped. Horchata isnt this sweet (ever, that Ive tried) and doesnt have such a strong vanilla presence. That said, once I got past what it didnt taste like, I really liked it. Both for its uniqueness, and its delicious sweet but not cloying natural vanilla flavor and aroma. The cinnamon makes its appearance on the back end and in your throat. Cool beer Id get again if I could."

Hazy orange, slip of ringed head. Big honest vanilla sweetness, little booze or malt. Full Rhubarb and Custard party diluted with Ambrosia rice maltiness. Vanilla crystals and estery bitterness. Finishes family clean dessert moreoshness.

Bottle, Fancy Al Fresco Tasting

Rating from notes. Sampled from the bottle. Sweet with surprisingly a flavor of maple syrup. Very sweet, some cinnamon.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy copper/brown with an off-white head. Aroma of vanilla and cinnamon, pale and caramel malts, a good amount of sweetness, and some spices/dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. A unique and cool beer but something Id probably never want to drink again.

Bottle: Muddled copper with a light beige, bubbly head that reduces to a thin film. Aroma of vanilla cake, Red Vines licorice, mild cinnamon & some apparent, residual sweetness. Dessert-y. Taste has heavy angel food cake with vanilla frosting, Nilla wafers sprinkled with light cinnamon, & some clove-like spice. Lingering vanilla coated rice cake finish with just a slight hint of earthy bitterness that tries to offset some of the sweetness. Mildly creamy body. Its a sweet one, for sure, & definitely a dessert beer. Im a fan of vanilla, though, so this one was up my alley. Large servings might exhaust, but smaller pours are very tasty.
