SamGamgee (1140), Isla Vista, California, USA Jun 24, 2009 Draught at The Red. slightly hazy gold with a lasting white head. Super floral and fruity aroma with a hint of lavender evident, plus some citrus and wheat. The flavor is yeast and fruity, not really what I imagine in the style, but the citrus, wheat, and spices are all there. Medium-light in body with medium carbonation. The finish has a nice wheat tang to it that invites the next sip. A pretty unique wit, and I definitely like it. arrogantb (389), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 22, 2009 750ml bottle $8.49. The head is a pretty thick white mass with craters. The color is a little darker than I would expect for a wit, more orange than white-yellow. Still, it looks enticing to me as most beers do. The smell has soapy floral qualities hidden behind a spicyiness that I expect from wits and belgians in general. There might be the slightest bit of citrus peel/zest but that may be the power of suggestion from the label at work. The taste really threw me for a loop, it was funky at first and I couldn’t put my finger on it until it warmed up a bit and then I immediately thought of cinnamon. Specifically Dolly Madison coffee cake and dunkin’ sticks. I was expecting a more traditional wit but I’m glad that this beer is doing its own thing.

The aroma is sweet with ntoes of malt, lemon, and pomerans, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry and spicy finish. ukoolaid (568), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow. Head is big and fluffy but doesn’t stick around. Aroma is nice and juicy with floral notes and a small amount of spiciness. Refreshing and very drinkable. The mouthfeel is a little bubbly/foamy, which is not a terrible thing in this beer. Goes great with the vindaloo I’m eating. marcus (1514), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 15, 2009 This clear yellow beer poured with a white head and very little aroma. There is a thin floral flavor with some banana ester and a bit of spice. blutt59 (1638), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 12, 2009 bottle, golden colored pour wih decent lasting foam, aroma has strong spice element, flavor has a lot of spice and herbal notes, like the imperial much better alagnak (90), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2009 Pale yellow, nice looking beer with a big rocky head. Spices on the forefront of the aroma - coriander/cardamom, a little but of dirty orange. Initial taste is pleasant, yeasty and a little spicy. After that, it has kind of a sparkling water/aspirin/dishwater thing going on that is a little strange. A little more floral and herby as it warms. Good, but kind of muddled and all over the place. I’d heard such good things about The Bruery that I really was excited when they started showing up in Denver, but haven’t been that impressed so far. emacgee (1656), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2009 Via trade. Pours a sparkling hazy amber yellow. Head is profuse, rocky white. The aroma is nice, spicy, some anise and light sweet orange peel, subdued. Flavor is interesting, has a pronounced off character, soapy?, nice light sweet orange flavor, anise, yeasty. Crisp palate. Can’t get over that one flavor.
