ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow. Head is big and fluffy but doesn’t stick around. Aroma is nice and juicy with floral notes and a small amount of spiciness. Refreshing and very drinkable. The mouthfeel is a little bubbly/foamy, which is not a terrible thing in this beer. Goes great with the vindaloo I’m eating. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 15, 2009 This clear yellow beer poured with a white head and very little aroma. There is a thin floral flavor with some banana ester and a bit of spice. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 12, 2009 bottle, golden colored pour wih decent lasting foam, aroma has strong spice element, flavor has a lot of spice and herbal notes, like the imperial much better alagnak (300), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2009 Pale yellow, nice looking beer with a big rocky head. Spices on the forefront of the aroma - coriander/cardamom, a little but of dirty orange. Initial taste is pleasant, yeasty and a little spicy. After that, it has kind of a sparkling water/aspirin/dishwater thing going on that is a little strange. A little more floral and herby as it warms. Good, but kind of muddled and all over the place. I’d heard such good things about The Bruery that I really was excited when they started showing up in Denver, but haven’t been that impressed so far. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2009 Via trade. Pours a sparkling hazy amber yellow. Head is profuse, rocky white. The aroma is nice, spicy, some anise and light sweet orange peel, subdued. Flavor is interesting, has a pronounced off character, soapy?, nice light sweet orange flavor, anise, yeasty. Crisp palate. Can’t get over that one flavor. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jun 7, 2009 On tap at The Bruery’s tap room in Placenia. Pours a hazy, dull yellow body with a huge, foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is big on the spices and wheat malts. The lavender really stands out and makes it quite soft smelling. Flowery with some bread, coriander, and orange peels. Flavor is sweet and spicy, but very soft again thanks to the lavender. Some spicier yeast, citrus, fruitcake, and wheat. Finishes with a touch of tartness and grass before lingering with some sweet malts and a sharper spicing. Dry with a light to medium body and very silky. Overall, a pretty cool beer. Not exploding with flavor, but well balanced and enjoyable. Love the lavender. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours pale yellow w/ a tall head that lingers. Strong aromatics at play here. I smell a fleshy spice essence that reminds me of some joint relief ointment I used to use after pitching all night. Medium nectar w/ good carbonation. Spicy citrus rind flavors dominate w/ corriander, banana, and anglefood cake picking up the rear. It’s very dry on the tongue through to the finish. Heavy spice lingers. This beer is out of whack. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Jun 6, 2009 Updated: Oct 17, 2009Pours perflecty hazed & luminous yellow color with creamy white head (almost too much head). Plenty of yeast to make this thing appetizing in appearance. Nose is ripe with citrus and esters, especially lemon/orange. Palate offers a pleasing sourness with the citrus fruit, yeasty flavors, and soft malt component. Light bodied and easy drinking. Would go well with breakfast.
