Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation.
It’s definitely over the top with lavender...smells pretty much like the bubble bath I keep on hand. It’s an American brewery, so you’re already going into it expecting some aspect might be rather excessive. But, better so with lavender than coriander IMHO (I like both but too much coriander becomes unpleasant), so...overall it’s still relatively attractive in the nose thanks to some other nifty aspects in the background. Clean, well-balanced flavor profile. A bit too fizzy/prickly in the mouthfeel department, but overall this is a decent enough wit that simply needs more restraint in the lavender department so the other characters can shine through. I just noticed the bottle label says "a hint of lavender". Haha. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 2, 2009 Pours a hazy light golden color with a large white champagne like head. Aroma is spices, citrus, yeasts, coriander and nutmeg. Flavor is wheat, yeasts, a healthy dose of nutmeg and cinnamon, bread, malt, coriander. Fizzy prickly mouthfeel and spices linger in the finish. The spices are a bit over the top for me in this one and mask many of the the other positive characteristics in this beer. Stll pretty good though. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA May 31, 2009 Clear golden pour from a 750 ml. bottle. Nice aromas of lemon, yeast, and orange. Prickly carbonation with a light body. Pleasant refreshing flavors with a touch of earthy spice. Finish thins out quickly with a low level of complexity. Tasty for this light style beer. yobdoog (1425), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 27, 2009 Cloudy light yellow hue color with a fluffy head. Aroma is sweet, yeasty, and some nice spices. Taste is sweet, smooth, creamy, and spicy. Slightly prickly. Overall really good. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2009 Pours cloudy golden with a small fizzy white head. Overpowering fruity and spicy aroma. With mango and apple cider, orange zest, coriander, champagne like yeast, slight lemon zest, and a bit of white pepper. Flavor follows the aroma quite well with some other undetermined spices, but with a really pleasant yeasty/fruity character throughout, and a bit of the white pepper in the finish. Palate is medium, nicely carbonated with a lasting finish, and a pleasant mouth-feel. Solid and balanced, probably the most interesting wit I’ve had to date. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA May 20, 2009 Bottle. Aroma heavy on the spice front, coriander and others I failed to identify, but quite interesting. Flavor also has a strong citrus note and adds biscuit malt. All of this is increasingly overridden by an overwhelming mineral, hard water, practically metallic. The spices were interesting, but not too much came to back them up, and then all was washed away, making it difficult to finish. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA May 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of tons of spices (coriander, cinnamon?, pepper, nutmeg, and probably a ton of other spices I can’t even identify) and chestnut. Flavor of light spices (particularly the allspice/cinnamon) and a bready backbone. Pretty interesting witbier, even with the heavy spicing. Certainly unique.
