COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Defined as "serving no practical purpose", the recipe for Otiose was developed during a rare break in the brewing schedule; a recipe we came up with to satisfy our own desires and nothing more. The result is a sour brown ale aged in oak barrels to which we added guava. Riddled with tropical notes which are balanced by itís malty backbone, Otiose is a rich and decadent sour ale. 8.2%, Cellerable for up to 3 years.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy brown with a creamy, beige head. Amazingly complex aroma. Caramel, Brett and wood. Rich body, tart fruit and berries - raspberries in particular - with a lovely woody edge. Bretty, tart. Lovely. 130913

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Murky mahogany, big sediment chunks, beige gray head that settles quick. Aroma is vinegar, mild tropical fruit, some cherries and lactic tartness. Taste is similar, vinegar and oak sour notes, puckering with cherries, tropical fruit, lemon-like acidity that works the saliva glands. Sour and delicious! Dry finish, thin mouth feel. Very good beer, though I really donít pick up any guava at all, as the label states.

clear dark brown color, off white head. Nose is dark fruits, figs, caramel, oak, dark cherry, some guava, lots of acid in the nose Taste highly acidic, but does back off and show notes of the fruits and malt. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, finishes highly acidic dark cherry. Typical Bruery sour. Nice but a 750 is too much with the acid

750ml bottle. Ruddy brown brew with a ring of off-white head. Smells great - dark fruit, oak, sour. Tastes as sour as it smells - cherry and other dark fruit, woody. Nice.

Thanks to either bu11zeye or brystmar for sharing this bottle. Dark reddish-brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of sour cherry notes with some oak, toffee and other dark fruit. The flavor is similar with a lot of tart, sour cherries. I also get some oak, vanilla and toffee character. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Oh hey, a pretty good fruited sour from Bruery where the fruit (in this case guava) is barely detectable behind a malty sweetness with lots of tart acidity that burns going down. How many different beers like this will they release in one year?

750 ml bottle from Reserve Society. Pink / red color with no head in a snifter. Nose is red wine vinegar, tart cherry and yeasty funk. Flavor is not what I want in a sour. Sharp vinegar notes, real astringent oak and overripe fruit. For me I wouldnít drink this again. I see why some people like it but... Not this guy.

Reddish dark brown. Decent lacing. Nose is cherries, oak, peaches and acetic vinegar. Insanely sour, very tart and oily finish. Grapefruit sort of sourness. fruity finish. just too intense for me. Glad Iím splitting it 4 ways.
