Defined as "serving no practical purpose", the recipe for Otiose was developed during a rare break in the brewing schedule; a recipe we came up with to satisfy our own desires and nothing more. The result is a sour brown ale aged in oak barrels to which we added guava. Riddled with tropical notes which are balanced by it’s malty backbone, Otiose is a rich and decadent sour ale. 8.2%, Cellerable for up to 3 years.

Another cool sour from Bruery. Aroma is tart cherry, sour oak, and a hint of tropical fruit (just a hint). For the most part it pours like an Oud Bruin and smells like a kriek. Pours deep brownish red with a nice big frothy head (thank god). Taste is nice and tart with sour cherry, rich oak, caramel, and a biting guava grape taste. The fruit in here is VERY understated but it’s still an amazing sour brown. Would have this again.

Sample from 75 cl. bottle. Dark amber colour with a reddish tint and a lightly tanned head. Tart aroma with red berries, oak, caramel malts, tart fruits and yeasts. Taste is sour. Medium body with a lively carbonation. Finishes long lasting tart and dry. Excellent Sour Ale.

Bottle - Brown pour with medium beige head. Caramel malts, tart orchard fruits, wood, syrupy, brown sugar, lovely acidic sour and sweetness balance on the palate. Great drop this.

Bottle. Clear hazelnut brown with a light brown head. Paint thinner (the good kind), oak, blackberries, cherries. Medium body, light sour, light dry, pretty soft on the palate with prickling carbonation. Good complexity and nice palate.

Bottle. Pours deep amber with a medium beige head. The aroma is acid, sour fruit, barnyard and loads of wood mixed with sweet notes of berries like cherry and raspberry. The flavor is deep malty, high fruity and acidic sour. Notes of cherry and ripe berries. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Murky mahogany, big sediment chunks, beige gray head that settles quick. Aroma is vinegar, mild tropical fruit, some cherries and lactic tartness. Taste is similar, vinegar and oak sour notes, puckering with cherries, tropical fruit, lemon-like acidity that works the saliva glands. Sour and delicious! Dry finish, thin mouth feel. Very good beer, though I really don’t pick up any guava at all, as the label states.

clear dark brown color, off white head. Nose is dark fruits, figs, caramel, oak, dark cherry, some guava, lots of acid in the nose Taste highly acidic, but does back off and show notes of the fruits and malt. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, finishes highly acidic dark cherry. Typical Bruery sour. Nice but a 750 is too much with the acid
