HOPSHUNTER (225), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2009 Bottle. Poured a deep amber with a thin beige head. The aroma is strong caramel malt, pear, and sherry notes. Full-bodied with tongue prickling alcohol. I have read some of the reviews and am so surprised I don’t see tons of reference to pear. the flavor is like biting into a fresh, boozed pear. Notes of yeast and mild acetone are also present. Somewhat sweet finish with lots of warming alcohol. shigadeyo (1695), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2009 4/25/2009: Partridge in a Pear Tree has a strong, yeasty, and fruity aroma. The flavor is malty and fruity with some yeast. This beer is sweet, but well-balanced. It is think on the palate and seems a bit hot.
The next day... The appearance of Partridge in a Pear Tree is a depp caramel color and opaque. It pours out thick and sticky. It has a huge, malty nose with undertones of cooked pears. My tastebuds are aroused by rich, caramelized malt, and undertones of cooked fruits with a caramelized sugar glaze on top. This is some tingling spice in the finish and as well a warming alcohol sensation. It is sweet and sticky on the lips. There isn’t any carbonation left in the beer at this point, but it is so big and chewy that it doesn’t need carbonation! Overall, this beer might actually be better after sitting opened all night. THIS IS A BIG BEER!

CaptainCougar (5234), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 18, 2009 Bottle sampled on 1/10/09: Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty sweet caramel and maple with some doughy Belgian yeast and dark winter spices. Body starts fairly full and caramely sweet with good anise, cinnamon and clove spice balance with some yeasty notes. Has a lot of sweetness and a drier, warming finish. A pretty interesting beer that should age well. bikesandbeers (464), Los Angeles, California, USA Jun 17, 2009 750ml bottle, which i nursed by myslef over the better part of two hours. aroma withas very fruity, flavor was strong and sweet with an long finish. I’m not sure if more interesting flavors will pop up as it ages, but it will probly end up a big sweet mess. Papsoe (12906), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 6, 2009 Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Grovlam. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a small beige head. Plummy aroma. Full-bodied, low in carbonation, notes of overripe fruit, sherry, a little yeast with a vague underlying tartness. No bitterness. 290509 Ungstrup (13378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 5, 2009 Bottled. A hazy red beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, over ripe fruits, and alcohol, as well as medium notes of caramel, the alcohol leaves a burn on the tongue and a slight burn in the throat. fiulijn (6720), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 4, 2009 Blind tasting at Papsø’s Hazy amber color; small head. It has a very light aroma (sweet caramel, oily French Fries); the flavor is better, sweetish caramel, with Bourbon vanilla; there is a late sourness that doesn’t fit in. Too high bitterness. I guess they wanted to make a barrel aged Quadrupel, but it came out too chaotic. Grovlam (3740), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 4, 2009 #13
Bottle. [Papso Shady blind Tasting 2009] Thanks to Eric for this amazing trade!!! Small bubbly beige head that was quickly goon. Spare display of lacework. Cloudy light dark amber color. Aroma of dried fruit, yeast, molasses, mild toasted malt, vinous, alcohol warming. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor. Lingering fruity and malty finish. Blind tasting, but this could be a Quard. 7 / 3 / 8 / 4 / 16 = 3.8 (I guess it was a Quard)
