| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 7, 2009 Bottle shared at hellbilly’s for the 5th of July. Smells like Christmas. I think a holiday song even came on the iPod as I was drinking this. In any case, this pours a warm shade of amber with a trim tan head. Smells and tastes, as advertised: spiced pear. The sicky sweetness manages to do a fair job of masquing the alcohol, but seemingly at the expense of the flavor. markwise (1178), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

Nose is light fruit, apple, PEAR, sugar, lots of complex fruit, banana, and malt. Flavor is similar: a boatload of boozy pears, sugary goodness (candy sugar?), and warming alcohol. Boozy finish. Overall a very enjoyable Winter Warmer/ Quad. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Dark amber beer that manages to raise a convincing head at 11%. A very aromatic ale loaded with esters, syrupy pear candy, bergamot tea, cakey doughiness... and alcohol. It tastes more or less like a fruit salad, though you need extra-ripe fruits and baked to concentrate their sugars. Extremely juicy for what it aims at. While the alcohol is not particularly brutal at 11%, it takes a lot of room in such a candy-like beer. Poire William was mentionned more than once at the table. Sweet, heady and malty. I could not grow a liking for that sticky digestive whose juicy fruitiness was stronger than in most fruit beers. I can enjoy fruity sweetness, but if there is no acidity to support it, I need a remarkable focus (New Glarus) and what we have here is a bit chaotic. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2009 Bottle. Poured a deep amber with a thin beige head. The aroma is strong caramel malt, pear, and sherry notes. Full-bodied with tongue prickling alcohol. I have read some of the reviews and am so surprised I don’t see tons of reference to pear. the flavor is like biting into a fresh, boozed pear. Notes of yeast and mild acetone are also present. Somewhat sweet finish with lots of warming alcohol. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 30, 2009 4/25/2009: Partridge in a Pear Tree has a strong, yeasty, and fruity aroma. The flavor is malty and fruity with some yeast. This beer is sweet, but well-balanced. It is think on the palate and seems a bit hot.
The next day... The appearance of Partridge in a Pear Tree is a depp caramel color and opaque. It pours out thick and sticky. It has a huge, malty nose with undertones of cooked pears. My tastebuds are aroused by rich, caramelized malt, and undertones of cooked fruits with a caramelized sugar glaze on top. This is some tingling spice in the finish and as well a warming alcohol sensation. It is sweet and sticky on the lips. There isn’t any carbonation left in the beer at this point, but it is so big and chewy that it doesn’t need carbonation! Overall, this beer might actually be better after sitting opened all night. THIS IS A BIG BEER!

Aroma of toasty sweet caramel and maple with some doughy Belgian yeast and dark winter spices. Body starts fairly full and caramely sweet with good anise, cinnamon and clove spice balance with some yeasty notes. Has a lot of sweetness and a drier, warming finish. A pretty interesting beer that should age well. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA
