Bottle. [Papso Shady blind Tasting 2009] Thanks to Eric for this amazing trade!!! Small bubbly beige head that was quickly goon. Spare display of lacework. Cloudy light dark amber color. Aroma of dried fruit, yeast, molasses, mild toasted malt, vinous, alcohol warming. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor. Lingering fruity and malty finish. Blind tasting, but this could be a Quard. 7 / 3 / 8 / 4 / 16 = 3.8 (I guess it was a Quard) Theis (3617), Denmark Jun 3, 2009 #13 - Amerikaner Blind-Smagning 29-Maj-2009 hos Papsoe. Bottle. Clear red/amber - no head. High sweetness, raisins, sharpness, alcoholic, citrus, malty sourness, bubblegum, wood notes, high malty, dried fruits, phenols, cherry notes. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway May 31, 2009 Bottle, 75cl. Thx to Papsoe. It pours a clear, copper body under a beige head of moderate size. The aroma has canned fruits syrup, mostly peaches, with hops, alcohol and caramel as well. Sweet, syrupy flavor with alcohol, some spices and a phenolic touch. Full-bodied and warming. Long, warm, sweet finish. A rather nice beer, but on the sweet, syrupy side. It’s sort of like candy with alcohol. (090508) joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 30, 2009 Bottle #13 at Papsø’s blindtasting.
Clear orange red coloured with a medium sized off white ehad.
Sweet aroma of fruits from can, coriander and spices.
Sweet and fruity favour of citrus, dried fruits and alcohol.
Warming alcoholic finish. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 29, 2009 From bottle, blind #13. Pours hazy orange to brown with a small tan head. Dry caramel malt, slight oxidised note in the aroma. Overripe fruity too. Sweet, fruity, yeasty and light oxidised flavoured. Mild acidic touch. Vague metallic. acidic and dark roasted malt flavoured finish.Lasting spiced and yeatsy into the far finish. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 26, 2009 750mL bottle courtesy of WeeHeavySD poured into a snifter.
Pours a murky brownish amber with a decent tan head that shows good retention and a little lacing.
The aroma is massively sweet. It’s got lots of candi sugar and a caramel sweetness with plenty of dark fruits. This is slightly balanced by a hint of peppery spiciness.
The taste is thick with caramel and sugary sweetness. Lots of boozy dark fruits which leave a lingering sweetness in the finish along with a slight alcohol burn and a bit of spices.
The mouthfeel is medium with strong carbonation and a sugary sweetness that lingers on the palate.
This is a solid quad though it’s definitely heavy on the sweetness and it definitely limits the drinkability with such an overwhelming sugar and sweet fruit presence. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA May 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear dark brownish-red with a small light tan-orange head. Big sweet-sharp aroma, of malt, spices, dark fruits, brown sugar, wood, alcohol. Rich taste, quite sweet and spicy, of dark fruits, molasses, wood, and a bit of an alcohol bite. Lingering sticky sweetness. Very nice. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2009 Darker brown color with an aroma of plum, sugar, and cinnamon-spice. Flavor has a sweet and spicy mix with dark fruit, sweet malt, and a solid finish. Just OK for a quad, but really unique.
