Bottled. Nice sweetness, sugar in the aroma, light spices and some musty apple. Flavor has good fruity complexity and a nice body, with low carbonation and a good sweet flavor. Not too much like a traditional Belgian quad but a nice beer none-the-less.

Pours murky brown-mahogany with a thick, creamy off-white head. Aroma of sugar, brown sugar, pears, apples, nutmeg, yeast, and boozy malt. Sour-sweet taste, very bretty at first. Soon, turns into a sweet, spiced wine concoction. Lots of fruit, mostly pears and apricots, but an underlying grapey/vinuous tanginess. Alcohol is decently masked, but there is a warming and a bit of ethyl at times. Flat mouthfeel, but full. Easy drinker, though definitely a sipper with its ABV. Dare I say, and knowing this is a quad, but it is one of the better holiday beers out there.

I don’t get a strong aroma at first, but after the first taste, it’s: wow. Maple syrup. Lots of sweetness. Apple. Fruit in general. Very interesting. I like what they are doing with the style. Alcohol well hidden.

4-5 oz sample on tap as a guest tap at Kern River Brewing. Sampled in early January. Estery Belgian yeast aroma with some fruity aromas...perhaps pear, but I’m not overly convinced. Quite sweet, estery, and ethanolic. Pretty ttransparent amber body with a large, off-yellow foamy head. Good lacing--an attractive beer. Starts a bit sweet and a bit tart. LOTS of esters...banana. A little roasty and sticky in the middle. Finishes tart and sour, but not extremely. This has a very off-putting chalky, ethanolic finish. Not my bag.

25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a sudsy beige head. Nose is yeast, candi, raisin and canned pears. Medium light with faint carb. Taste is woody raisin, apple cider, banana and sweetened bourbon. A lighter take on a Quad but still packs a punch.

On tap at The Bruery. Cloudy brown color with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, candi sugar, pears, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor is dominated by sweet fruitiness, spices, and nuts. Complex flavor and full mouthfeel. Maybe a little too rich if anything, which slightly detracts from the drinkability, but it is a very enjoyable beer overall.

Strong sweet aroma. Lots of candi sugar, yeast, booze, dark fruits. Pours dark amber with a nice creamy head. The flavor is pretty darn sweet with lots of carmelized sugars, dark fruits, alcohol, a mild tartness reminiscient of overly ripe fruit. Pretty warming IMO, and very full and heavy. Glad I got to try a 6 oz sample instead of a whole bottle.
