On tap from Lucky Baldwins Pasadena. Huge foamy head and aromas of raisins, plums, figs. Big flavor, alcohol nicely hidden for an 11% killer. After warming, it seemed richer tasting. This was a delightful break to our walk around Old Town Pas. Updated from 3.9 to 4.3 : I’m surprised the average for this is 3.6. I just opened a bottle an hour ago and this is tasting utterly marvelous. Really great quad beer and I need to find more bottles of this.

sample from the bottle at Dr. Bill’s Tasting at Falling Rock during GABF on 9/26/09... pours a dark red/orange... sweet nose.. medium body... the sweet malts really dominate the beer, while a bit of caramel and spice come forward.... very enjoyable.

Bottle purchased at beverages for less in Santee. Shared with fordest over several batches of kettle corn. We drank this straight from the shelf. Room temperature did this one full justice. Aromas of pear, and spices. Another excellent offering from one of my favorite breweries.

Murky brown pour with a thin yellow head, this beer has a flavor of raisins, spices, brown sugar, tasty. The alcohol hits you on the back end. As it warms up, the flavors become even more complex. I think it is very well done. I like it and will be aging a bottle or two.

Poured a red amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, cocoa, dark fruits, vanilla, rum soaked raisins, and a bit of alcohol. Taste of vanilla, caramel malts, some dried fruits, candied fruits soaked in booze, sweeter malts, and a fair amount of alcohol in the finish.

Aroma of sticky toffee and caramel, maybe some sweet tree fruit - pear or apple? Appearance is a dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Flavor of rich malt, sweet Christmas spice, and burnt toast. Some faint alcohol presence. Very smooth and sweet on the palate. Very drinkable, a very hidden 11% beer!

750 ml bottle thanks to padrefan. Dark pour with lots of fruit and spice aromas. Flavors of pear and apple and spice. Very very tasty. I love pear flavor and this beer had it.
