3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle from last year’s release i believe. seemed like a good time to try this one given the season... pours a mostly opaque, deep cola hue, consistent throughout and topped with a creamy fluffy light rententive khaki head... aroma of pumpkin and spices, cardomman (sp), cedar, and light roasted chocolate malt also reside... flavors are more of the same with creamy pumpkin, carraway seeds, rye bread, and smooth cocoa, a light woody additive feature from the cedar is also detected. flavors are semi-sweet in nature, with a creamy and silky body with not a whole lot of bitterness. spices seem pretty assertive still even with a year or so of aging. couldn’t drink too much of this in one sitting but it does hit the spot for fall.

Pours a rich black color with a spicy aroma of celery and potpourri. Taste is initially lika a V8 drink, which changes to a spicy pumpkin, then ends to a potpourri of spicy herbs. An intresting beer that tickles the palate.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A pumpkin milk stout with spices aged on cedar, Finally!
Severe carbonation makes this one a challenge to pour but leaves a solid black liquid with a creamy foamy tan head that takes forever to recede and litters the glass with webs of lace. Smells like a cigar box mostly. Heavy cedar aroma with hints of vegetables are really all I can find in the aroma. I thought cigar city had the lock on over cedar-ed beers, but apparently the Bruery is right up there too. The flavor is sweet at first with a hint of chocolate and caramel before the cedar takes over. Earthy, spicy, woody, and herbal with barely a beer to counter it. Medium body with an insane level of carbonation and a sweet tannic mouthfeel. ?Uhm yeah I’m not sure what this was supposed to be, but there is a good chance that we are not going to be able to finish this bottle. Too much cedar!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 Taster at The Bruery’s tasting room. There’s a lot going on with this beer. It’s got a ton of spice and pumpkin to go along with bitter chocolate hop character. This is not one to drink between the sours and lighter palated beers like I did. Just crazy unique beer.

Tap at The Bruery for RBSG. Thanks to the Bruery for pulling out all of the stops for us! The pour is black to deep ruby. Medium carbonation to low. Spotty lace. Nose is fresh autumn spice, Old Bay seasoning, sugar, herbal tea, seasoned steak. Very interesting. Taste is herbal, minty, small bitter chocolate. Lemon and malic acid finish. Very odd beer- not the typical ’pumpkin stout’ flavors. But very enjoyable.
