Our spin on an American-style barley wine, and we we say "our spin", we mean it’s super hoppy. Dry hopped with Simcoe, Centennial and Sterling hops, a real piney and citrusy flavor shines through the dark, caramelly malt backbone. Some may think of it as more of a double IPA than a barley wine, we just think its delicious.

Poured into a perfect pint. 3.5 A: Moderately hazed deep amber color. Three fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is good for the ABV and some spotty lacing is left. 4.0 S: Holy piss is this hoppy. No way I would identify this as a Bruery beer if smelled blind. Hops are foremost floral and herbal. Some citrus and earthiness to follow. Underneath there is a solidly toasty backbone with plenty of caramel and toffee. Light dark fruitiness to round things out. 3.5 T: Interesting. It’s not bad, but it has trouble finding its place. It’s not hoppy enough to be a DIPA, but it’s not malty enough to be a BW. It’s not even a hoppy barleywine or a malty DIPA. It’s somewhere between those two. Mild to moderate bitterness. Toasty malts, caramel, toffee, and maybe a touch of molasses. Dark fruits, raisins, and a touch of tobacco. Floral hops with light herbal and citrusy components. Again, it’s decent, but it confuses the palate and not in a good way. 4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Decently creamy, a bit chewy, and smooth enough. Booze is well hidden. 3.0 D: I think I summed this up already. Good, but confused. Serving type: bottle 11-30-2012 03:54:48

5/15/13. 750 from t0rin0, I think? Hazy amber pour with a small khaki head. Rich sugar aroma, light hop, some grainy bitterness, paper, and a touch of caramel and light fruits/blondie bars. Not bad!

Sampled at a bottleshare. Dark brown, slightly red color. Good thin khaki head. Dots of lace. Dark fruit, raisin, earthy hop in the aroma. Big body. Light, smooth carbonation. Kind of a slightly thicker creamy texture. Light bitter sweet taste. Lighter alcohol. Very nice barleywine.

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of Klaas.

Thx. to – once again I am not 100 % but I believe it was Klaas who brought this. 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. Pours amber / brown. Smells a bit oxidized, creamy caramel, thick toffee and candy sugar, sweet with some leaves & herbs. Taste is oxidized, thick caramel malts, toffee with herbs, leaves, small gelatine like touch, light smoked herbs & biter herbs in the back, sweet sugar with fruits in the back. Creamy – dunno about the other commons but to me this is clearly an American style barley wine. Solid offering. Dunno about the super hoppy part, don’t think this is suppa fresh so it might have aged into a barley wine… mayhaps?
