Our spin on an American-style barley wine, and we we say "our spin", we mean its super hoppy. Dry hopped with Simcoe, Centennial and Sterling hops, a real piney and citrusy flavor shines through the dark, caramelly malt backbone. Some may think of it as more of a double IPA than a barley wine, we just think its delicious.

Thx. to once again I am not 100 % but I believe it was Klaas who brought this. 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. Pours amber / brown. Smells a bit oxidized, creamy caramel, thick toffee and candy sugar, sweet with some leaves & herbs. Taste is oxidized, thick caramel malts, toffee with herbs, leaves, small gelatine like touch, light smoked herbs & biter herbs in the back, sweet sugar with fruits in the back. Creamy dunno about the other commons but to me this is clearly an American style barley wine. Solid offering. Dunno about the super hoppy part, dont think this is suppa fresh so it might have aged into a barley wine mayhaps?

Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Hazy murky opaque red brown color, small to medium sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, a light sweetness, some alcohol, really barley wine-style. Full body, good carbonation.

Great fresh hop scents and some citrus, taste is similar but with a little pine as well, it feels like a double IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy deep brown beer. Two finger fluffy tan head. Light palate. Nice clean fresh malt base. Piney hops, with grassy spice. Good balance between the two - hugely drinkable.

Bomber poured into pint glasses. Deep amber/red color with medium sized gray head. Nose is hops and citrus. Taste follows the nose, with some malt in there too. Flavor is surprisingly basic. Medium mouthfeel and bitter finish. I dont know how they can call this a Barleywine.

2012 batch. Dark brown, but clear. Boozy nose, and deep roasted malts. A certain hop character on the nose too. Strong malt flavor, the hops nicely mesh, but it isnt the easiest of beers to drink. Very well made, a great beer to age.

750 ml bottle - sampled during our motorhome tour through California. Pours deep amber with red hue and a frotty light beige greyish head. Aroma: hoppy nose fo grapefruit and tangerine peel and peach. Medium body with a bitterness bomb and a slight sweet touch... Dr sweet finish. Loooong finish, taste is all about the hops. :-( this is definitely not a barley wine.

4 nov 2012, tap at the Bruery. Light brown, clear, no bubbles. Nose is nose is all hops: grapefruit rind and slightly resiny. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Kind of disappointing. Thin body and not much malt or alcohol flavor. It's all hops balanced but overpowered by sweet grapefruit rind. Lightly bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
