COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our spin on an American-style barley wine, and we we say "our spin", we mean it’s super hoppy. Dry hopped with Simcoe, Centennial and Sterling hops, a real piney and citrusy flavor shines through the dark, caramelly malt backbone. Some may think of it as more of a double IPA than a barley wine, we just think its delicious.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of thagr81_us. Pours an almost clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Rich, rich caramellish nose with quite some heavy citrusy hops. Rich body, very heavy malt and caramel and again citrusy hops. Some warming alcohol in the finish. Your archetypical American Barley Wine. Lovely! 160612

Well it seems like its a barley wine kind of night, this one should put me out. Pours a deep reddish orange color with a massive tan head that persists forever. Lots of earthy and citrus hop aroma in the nose as well as a healthy dose of sweet caramel and burnt brown sugar. There’s a hint of oxidation, but at this point it adds more complexity than hindering the aroma of this brew. The taste is sweet up front with lots of the usual suspects. Toffee, caramel and sweet and burnt brown sugar play with hint of dark dried fruits. The sweetness quickly fades to an almost stinging hop bitterness that lingers with a bit of ethanol long onto the finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. This one has been aging in the cellar for about a year and a half now. The hops have faded a bit and I believe its in that in between stage where it’s not as good as it was when fresh, but well on its way to becoming a great aged barleywine. I wish I had another to see how this one develops.
