3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Well it seems like its a barley wine kind of night, this one should put me out.
Pours a deep reddish orange color with a massive tan head that persists forever. Lots of earthy and citrus hop aroma in the nose as well as a healthy dose of sweet caramel and burnt brown sugar. Thereís a hint of oxidation, but at this point it adds more complexity than hindering the aroma of this brew. The taste is sweet up front with lots of the usual suspects. Toffee, caramel and sweet and burnt brown sugar play with hint of dark dried fruits. The sweetness quickly fades to an almost stinging hop bitterness that lingers with a bit of ethanol long onto the finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. This one has been aging in the cellar for about a year and a half now. The hops have faded a bit and I believe its in that in between stage where itís not as good as it was when fresh, but well on its way to becoming a great aged barleywine. I wish I had another to see how this one develops.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A - Pours a cloudy amber-brown color with a finger of frothy tannish head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of strong grapefruit and citrus hops with some pine as well. There is also some strong toasted caramel malts with a bit of brown sugar.
T - Starts off with some strong grapefruit and citrus hops with some rich sweet caramel malts and brown sugar. Through the middle, some strong pine hop flavor with some bitterness comes through. The finish is a mix of rich caramelized malts, pine and citrus hops, bitterness, and a touch of booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really big hoppy American Barleywine with some strong malt flavors and body to balance things out.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Itís a hoppy beer, Iíll give it that. With small amounts of caramel and fruit but really the hoppiness dominates. I wasnít sure what to classify it as. But still a decent brew. Just not mind blowing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark crimson amber with a decent creamy light tan head. The aroma is a hoppy barleywine obviously, with the hops coming through lightly but clean on the light sweet barleywine malt signature. The flavor of a smooth barleywine, not biting or over resiny but a the sweet malts as a backbone with the notes of the three hops pleasant on top.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle. Poured clear, rich garnet with a towering, sticky cap of beige head. The aroma picked up juicy, delicious hops upfront (orange, floral, and pine notes above all else), with raisins, cane sugar, and bready sweetness beneath.. the hops worked hardest, and they worked well with the malt bill. The flavor opened with oily orange and pine bitterness that coated the tongue with bitterness.. molasses, drawn caramel, and crusty bread at the core.. grainy sweetness and resiny bitterness on the long, well-balanced finish. Heavier-bodied and fairly well carbonated on the palate.. coating and bitter.. alcohol was held in check.. this was a solid brew, but by the end, the malts just werenít greatly interesting. Iíd gladly drink it again.

BottleÖ Murky light brown ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma offers a melange of caramel, dark fruits, tropical fruits and earthy hops. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor furnishes caramel, toffee and toasted malts balanced by a very nice raw lupulin component. The finish is rich and warm, leaning neither bitter nor sweet. Bottle courtesy of giarcsr!
