Salt of the Earth is our play on a gose. Not to be confused with a gueze, the gose style originated in Leipzig, Germany. It is a wheat beer traditionally brewed with salt and coriander as well as lactic bacteria. Clearly not following the Reinheitsgebot, we figured we’d knock it up a level by using an addition of truffle salt in our gose, adding an earthy and funky element to the aroma and flavor certain to tantalize all of the foodies out there.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at Travlr’s sour beer tasting. Pours a cloudy gold with a thick white head. Butterscotch nose. Flavors of caramel and some tart cherry with a dash of salt.

Hazy yellow gold in color... Aroma of vinegar, salt, funk... Flavor is salty and thin, lagery with rotten fruit finish... Just rated my first bruery beer under 3.0... pathetic excuse for a gose. First bruery beer I ever poured down the drain, They should not have released it and protected their reputation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 mL bottle that kegbear gave me instead of pouring down the drain. aroma is the beach and the taste kind of is what you get up your nose after you have been summersaulted around by a gigantic wave at the seashore. Leaves an odd salty after taste in ones mouth. Not good

Backlog review, bottle tasted 05/09/2011. Pours a dull golden color, ample frothy head. Aroma is seawater, soft herbal spice, floral hops. Taste follows the nose- light floral hops, reminiscent of a Belgian IPA, mild bitterness with a salty twinge. Light body. Decent, nice to drink with food.

750 ml bottle acquired a long time ago from I have no idea know. Opened at our Pre-TG KB Bottle Fun in Heykevin’s driveway. Cool. Pours a hazy dulled golden hue, a touch of darkness in the body, mellow glow with a big cakey bright white head atop, stays large and in charge, ok lacing. Aromas are gentle salt, earthy quality and mellow tartness, lemon and gentle truffle. Bready malts, good salt, tart lemon. Really quite potent. Tangy, tart, and lively on the nose. Bready, straw, and dry with potent tartness. Initial turns the corner, a touch thicker into heavier end of medium bodied. Salty, bready, straw. Truffle comes through a bit more, a mellow tartness. Earth, salty and truffle elements. Bready, straw, and some dough fluffy qualities in the middle. Backend is a bit more bready, touches of fruit, lemon, faint banana. A bit dry, earthy truffle, salt and bready malt, flaked wheat, and straw. Nose really is potent, flavors are a bit odd, unique. Doesn’t necessarily come on for me up front, backend a bit more interesting.

Pours a slightly roped golden color with a fizzy thick three finger foam. The nose is weird....spray paint, new sneakers and a bit of yeasty esters. On the palate it’s worse than it smells... Like a skunk bottle of bud light aged in a fungus infested bowling shoe that has been sprayed with deodorizer.... Man I hope people don’t think this is what a gose should taste like... Damn you Dave for giving me this!
