Salt of the Earth is our play on a gose. Not to be confused with a gueze, the gose style originated in Leipzig, Germany. It is a wheat beer traditionally brewed with salt and coriander as well as lactic bacteria. Clearly not following the Reinheitsgebot, we figured we’d knock it up a level by using an addition of truffle salt in our gose, adding an earthy and funky element to the aroma and flavor certain to tantalize all of the foodies out there.

Very hazy gold beer, little white head. Light airy and semi dry palate. Not really sure what this beer is supposed to be! A lot of minerals with citrus orange from the coriander I think. Mild off beat bitterness from the truffle salt possibly. Semi soft and dry finish. Okay - a bit non deScript.

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma is herbal, slightly acidic, grassy, doughy malts, light citrus and earthy. The flavor has a moderate saltiness, herbal, coriander, grassy, doughy malts, crackers, and earthy. Thinner; still an interesting beer to try.

Had this one ages ago - had to dig through scraps of paper to find the notes on this one, which weren’t very good to be honest. Not a lot of salt noticeable in this one, but eh - it was good anyway. Touch of tart notes, yeast, light stone fruits, citrus character to it. Very enjoyable.

14 sept 3012, bottle. Pale yellow, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is gooseberries, faint sour aroma, hints of honey, and some saison notes. Thin body and slightly fizzy. Taste is lemoncello, a weird, soft salt component. Unusual. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A-- Poured a light straw color with a massive 3 finger bright white head. Left lacing all over the glass. Nice looking beer. S-- Coriander, bread, black pepper, kosher salt and truffle in the nose. T-- touches of sourness in the taste but otherwise coriander and stale bread. M-- Lighter feel and medium carbonation. I liked the salted cracker most of all in this. Really thought a basic slightly sour wheat until the finish and got a salted cracker in the end. Nice little bonus. O-- Refreshing beer. Nothing over the top but just well made and the touches of truffle and salt made this quite nice.

750ml bottle thanks to alpar, poured a cloudy golden yellow color, aromas oof light barnyard and salt. Flavors of corriander, light sour wheat, and salt. The salt was not overpowering at first but when I got 2/3rds ddone with the bottle, it became more salty and it made me want more. Solid brew, and thanks for the trade Alex.

People hate on this brew and I went into skeptical based on reviews but I enjoyed my pour. I did detect some salt but it wasn’t as if I was drinking deer lick... Nice attempt at the unorthodox style. Somewhat sour, but it has a nice clean bite at the end, I appreciate.

Bottle pours cloudy pale yellow with foamy white head. Unpleasant aroma of barnyard manure with sour lactic elements. Afraid to taste it after the aroma but the flavor was surprisingly delicate with light fruits, yeast and spices. Finish salty. No alcohol apparent. Palate light syrup. Not for me but glad I tried it.

Bottle sample @ Sour & Bitter Dinner, Copenhagen. My first gose! I didn’t realize until I read the deScription here on Ratebeer what it actually was. :-) Pours a slightly hazy golden orange body with a big white cloudy head. Nose is mineral salts, soap, hints of grass, herbs, caramel and grains. Interesting indeed. Taste is slightly salty grainy tones, pale malts, minerals and citric hints. Some herbal undertones far in the back. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Subtle, original and very interesting. Glad to have tried this, will be looking out for more gose from now on. Hell, I might even try to brew one! :-)

Pours a hazy gold with a cloud like two finger head that stays around leaving great lacing. Aroma is funky with an off note, maybe the truffle salt. Taste is great like a funkier gose, salt isn’t as present as in other goses I’ve had. Smooth, and easy to drink Not bad at all, I would have this again
