COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Snicklefritz is a citrusy, spiced, oaked Golden Strong Ale originally developed and homebrewed by Kyle Manns. It is spiced with cardomom, ginger, juniper berries and coriander, along with fresh lemon, orange, grapefruit and tangerine zests. After fermentation, the already complex concoction was aged on oak cubes to add one more layer of flavor. We’ve production brewed it at The Bruery.
Original batch was 9.2% ABV. The newest release (bottled as a Provisions Series beer) is 10% ABV.

This was actually not the last beer o the evening, I drank it before the Laika. Judges, I ask you to please make a note of it. Smells like apples and pears, with a hint of oak. Flavor is lightly funky, more pears and apples, and bit of oak. Some subtle spicy notes, too. Tasty...

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Slightly inebriated when I tried this, so bear with me. Muddled, opaque body, bright gold through & through with a foamy, bubbly, off-white head that reduces to a thin collar quickly. Aroma is all over the place; yeast-y spices, bread, sharp pepper, phenols, ginger, faint coriander, juicy orange flesh, grass, perfume, lemon zest... Probably missed a lot more stuff, too. Taste is also very spiced from the first sip; lemongrass, ginger, cardamom, light berry fruitiness, oranges, mildly sweet with a sharp phenol induction mid-palate. White pepper, Belgian Candi sugar, yeast esters, & ginger spice finishing things off. Spicy, bready aftertaste. Lots going on here... Not bad at all, but it doesn’t exhibit great harmony.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate ginger, lighter juniper, other spices that I can’t pinpoint, and a touch of citrus. It pours a hazy/cloudy dark golden-orange with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with citrus and some residual sugar. The finish has light-moderate ginger, juniper, and a touch of lemon grass. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

On tap @ Toronado: Poured without any formation of foam making this a naked copper colored beer. I always have a hard time sniffing out a beer to its complete potential while inside of a bar, but it was very apparent there was yeast and spices in the aroma. I have since given up on asking bartenders what kind of style a beer is because they never know or they tell me a completely far fetched style not even close to what I taste. The flavor was heavily spiced and zesty and had some moments of sourness while sort of reminding me of a kriek style because of the hinting fruit. Finish is extremely dry, and I wasn’t quite sure if I enjoyed this or not. It was average hence the luke warm ratings.

Bottle pour. Light golden pour with white head. Different spices and odds and ends. Holiday spice beer? Flavor is heavily spiced.

Had been holding onto this bottle for quite some time (like 2 years or something) and finally opened it. Poured a pretty clear golden color, some sediment now in the bottle due to travel from my place to destination. Aroma was some spices, a touch of some citrus, yeast notes. Flavor was some oak notes, citrus, spices. Alcohol pretty well masked, surprisingly so. Not too bad! Enjoyable.

Hazy apricot color, white head. Wow, spices are super strong, oak nuances, ginger, lemons, limes. Quite unique.

750 ml bottle from STLWill- thanks again, Will! Pours a cloudy orange color with a finger of off-white head and lots of yeast sediment at the bottom. The aroma has a great deal of citrus and spice, with notes of coriander, ginger, wheat, sweet bread, sugar cookie, and toffee. The flavor basically covers the same territory, with a slight metallic note at the end. That sort of messes up the otherwise malty, bready, spicy mouthfeel. Medium body, with moderate carbonation. Not bad.
