COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

My 2000th rate. Lots of oak and fruit in the aroma along with a hint of chocolate, raisins. Pours a beautiful red tinted black with a thin tan head that caps the beer. The flavor is very fruity with oak and a lot of sourness, lemon, lime, a bit of funk, some roast malt in the background. I am drinking this outside on a beautiful evening and as soon as I opened it, fruit flies came from far and wide for a taste. Great long lasting after taste. Excellent beer.

Pours unclear dark mahogany brown/black in color with a beige head. The aroma is sweet cherry juice with some subtle but pleasant chocolate roasted coffee notes. The flavor is subtle pleasant tart cherry juice with a full body and tart ending that eases on the palate in a nice way. The stout and sour yeast flavors blend very well together instead of working against each other - awesome.

Bottle split amongst friends. Incredible balance between stout and sour. Had that chocolate stout quality mixed with a slight sour funk. Not much else can be said other then it blew my mind.

On draft. Bruery strikes gold imo with another ass-tingling sour beer. Up there with mother funker. They found the way to make the yeast as sour as possible.

Super tart! A great sour to make you pucker. Went and searched out a few more bottles of this. I only wish that some of the deeper flavors of this base style of beer stood out more, but does not affect my enjoyment if this wonderful creation at all. Must try! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from The Bruery. A black beer with a fair tan head. Incredibly tart with an aroma of parma violets, roasty malt, chocolate, a little smoke and alcohol. Similar flavours and incredibly tart again with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Lemony tartness with Balsamic vinegar to finish. A sipper but absolutely awesome.

Pours like a stout, but the head fades crazy quick. Aroma is oaky, and fruity, no roastiness, lactic. Holy shit, this is possibly the most lactic, sour brew i’ve ever had, taste like super tart black berries, lots of lactic acid, some vinegar, super oaky, flavor, dry puckering woody finish,I don’t see any stout here, but this is one fantastic brew.

On tap at Devils Den for Sourfest, 11 bucks for a 12 oz. Pour is pitch black, light if any beige head. Lacing wasn’t present on this one. Softly carb’d, medium bodied. Aromas are insanely sour and acidic with berries, currants, roasted malts, wood, and a faint amount of chocolate. Taste is very tart and funky with some berries, grapes and cherry flavors up front, woody earth in the middle, and a light roasty cocoa finish. Barn’d the f out big time with a puckery close.

Dark in color. Head dissipates quickly. High in carbonation. Very strong sour flavor with hints of cherry and oak. Doesn’t leave bad flavor I’m mouth. At 5.6% its a very drinkable sour.
