COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meaning "rye bread" in Danish, we took our inspiration for this beer from the Danes’ staple dark, whole-grain rye bread. Brewed with three types of rye malt, this robust brown ale showcases the earthy, spicy character of the grain, complemented by bready, nutty barley malts and a hint of roast. Loosely based on the Scandinavian Christmas beer or "Julebryg" tradition, this beer is perfect for the colder weather of winter, although it will be available year-round (because who doesn’t love a dark beer now and again, regardless of weather?) And don’t worry about the name, we can’t pronounce it either! But we do have a video of us and a lot of others trying our best at it.

on tap at bruery. Murky brown color with a towering head that settles down to only large. Strong aroma of rye, maybe some caraway, nuts, dark chocolate. Strong, rich, dark malt flavor. Lots of breadiness. Chocolate, a bit of dark fruit. Some rye spiciness. Full body.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Very dark brown with a quickly dissolving beige head. Rye, caraway, cocoa and some caramel aroma, sweet, yet a little dry, caramel and cocoa taste. Flattish, full-bodied, rye bit towards the end and lots of caramel.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Brown. Aroma of malt, caramel, spicy rye bread and toast. Sweet flavor with caramel, rye bread, a bit spicy, toast, molasses, some fruitiness and a slightly drier finish. Medium-bodied. Not my thing.

Bottle bought at Geers. Big flakes can be seen in the bottle. Was expecting it to be a gusher, and yes it is. Green apples, spices, sour infected, horrible. Second Bruery bottle I have that is infected, seems like they have a quality control issue? Could've been a good beer probably.

Bread and more sour dough bread. Thick and chewed oats. Great if you like that characteristic..I kinda like it. But one novena kind..I really liked the pecan walnut finish.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2015 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Tawny copper & ruby body, semi-clear with a beige head that settles quickly to a foamy collar. Aroma of gum, light rye spice, & lots of slightly sweet, somewhat stale caramel candy notes. Flavor is a bit old tasting... Almost getting notes of cardboard? Light caramel malt, toffee, hint of rye, some mild date sweetness, toast, & gummy yeast. Perhaps a touch of clove, too. Medium bodied. Kind of "meh" all around. Didn’t care much for this one.

Shitbrown color like sludge but a nice Brady bread and dough nose with winter spices. Chewy body that injects flavors of cherries and figs in the sides of the mouth. There’s a ciderlike alcohol sourness at end.

Sienna brown, light head. Doughy yeast nose with hints of malt. Cherry, malt, dates in the taste. Quite carbonated. A pinch of fermented fruit aftertaste. Pleasant.

750 ml bottle pour. Pours a dark reddish brown with a temporary cola like head. First things first, I went into this one accepting the risk, because i can’t stand rye bread. That being said, I’m still a little surprised I went for a beer that directly translates to it, but I gotta try them all eventually. Plus these guys have done so little wrong for me in the past. Slightly sour malty aroma up front with almost a wine grape background. Grainy, malty flavor with the obvious rye. A little bit of a sour kick as well, which is nice. Has a bit of a dark fruit flavor bite up front as well, but mellows out well in the finish. I was pleasantly suprised that I ended up liking this beer a lot more than expected. It’s one of those beers for me that just kept getting better as it went. Well hidden alcohol. I enjoyed this.
