Stor flaske.. Smakt i juleselskap. Mørk brun farge med lett skum. Lite kullsyre. Ser ut som dårlig hjemebrygg med mye gjærrester som flyter rundt. Rnda veldig god øl med mye maltsmak, karamell, rosin, rom, brunt sukker. Kan definitivt smake rugbrød der også

A great rye. Pours an absolutely beautiful dark red with a white head. Smells awesome, vanilla, rye, sherbert and maybe some dried seaweed snacks. Taste is very complex, starts sweet, with some vanilla and rye and very creamy. Some smokiness in the middle, an sending with more sweetness and a bit of alcohol. Had on tap at Billcos.

This beer has a bready aroma of vanilla and almost like a sorbet smell. It has a rich flavor which is very unique. Slightly sour flavors of cream sickle make this a very interesting inviting beer.

I’m not sure if I’ve held on too long to this one.
It’s very carbonated, a little sour, very malty,
About the same color brown as the bottle.

8% part of the 3000 yen tasting set at CBB. Dark reddish brown pour, almost glossy black in certain lights. Caramel, toffee, chocolate, candied plums & a hint of rye. Full bodied, smooth, cacao nibs, toffee, rye spicy character & a woodsy finish. Quite nice.

4/4/2010. 750 ml. bottle. Pours copper color with a white head. Very loosely based on a Julebryg, but yet very different. Spicy aromas with malt, dark fruit, caramel. Warm alcohol, caramel and spice flavors. Light on hops..... and Rugbrød is not that hard to pronounce :)

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a two finger thick, pale brown tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a rich brown hue that shows a ruddy, hazed, red hue when held up to the light. The nose smells like a whole grain, brown bread that has been lightly sweetened with dark sugar. Earthy, spicy rye, lots of toasted whole grain, backdrops of sweet caramelized malt, raisins, touches of molasses, as well as a raw dough like note at times are each noticeable.
This has a prickly carbonation to it (almost fizzy), and is lighter, and less viscous than I was expecting, but still has some viscosity to it, and more of a malty body. Touches of toasted / roasted character are just noticeable in the lingering finish. The beer has a sweetness to it without being overly sweet, and somewhat reminds me of Kvass. Earthy, spicy rye flavors, somewhat peppery, a touch like nutty grass notes, brown malt flavors, and maybe a touch of raisin like fruitiness adds some grain complexity.
Interesting, definitely quite earthy, and very grain focused. This would be a good beer to cook with, but I am not really excited by this beer.
