COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meaning "rye bread" in Danish, we took our inspiration for this beer from the Danes’ staple dark, whole-grain rye bread. Brewed with three types of rye malt, this robust brown ale showcases the earthy, spicy character of the grain, complemented by bready, nutty barley malts and a hint of roast. Loosely based on the Scandinavian Christmas beer or "Julebryg" tradition, this beer is perfect for the colder weather of winter, although it will be available year-round (because who doesn’t love a dark beer now and again, regardless of weather?) And don’t worry about the name, we can’t pronounce it either! But we do have a video of us and a lot of others trying our best at it.

Hazy red/brown with tan head and good lacing. Nice aroma that is spicy and sweet. Flavor is a nicely balanced sweetness with just enough rye to make it interesting. Pleased that the rye isn’t overpowering. Medium body with good finish. Very nice.

Bottle into tulip glass. Attractive tan tight 1 finger head on top a beautiful dark red, clear body. Very nice to look at. Aromas of red berry, yeasty, slightly dry bready, dry rye. Reminds me of my early home brew days in a good way. Palate is short though, slightly sweet, slight liquorice.... very nice session beer, with a slight warming finish.

Bottle at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam Open Bottle evening, April 2014. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma is rich red berry fruit and yeast. The flavour is medium sweet light bitter with a smooth ripe blackberry fruit light hop bitter rye wheat palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Apple cider,Belgian yeast, and rye bread aromas, dry across palate with a short sweet finish. It’s good, goes down easy but lacks luster. Very sessionable. A little booze as it warms up.

750ml bottle. Aroma of sweet, roasty malts and spicy, piquant rye, with notes of caramel, doughy, dark bread, toasted nut and a certain cidery tinge in the background. Lightly hazy dark red-brown in color with a lasting light tan head. Flavor profile is malty, toasty, and fairly sweet with suggestions of brown sugar, caramel, raisin, apple cider, spicy and faintly citric rye grain and a light-moderate dosage of hop bitterness appearing late, helping to dry out the finish and mingling with earthy, musty, dark malt toast and lingering sweetness. Smooth, creamy and full on the palate with a low degree of effervescence and a medium-full body. Unique and interesting stuff.

Strange sour aroma. There is some rye spice, but overall the flavor is lacking and the beer falls a little flat. A letdown.

Malt, herbs, caramel, smoke, vanilla, wood, rye, walnuts, cloudy brown with a frothy tan head, umami, light body, thin texture, soft carbonation, long finish. I dug this beer, did the trick on the first sip, a refreshingly light malt wheaty beer. The Bruery strikes again!
