Pours a murky medium amber with a towering and dense bubbly white head. Huge floral nose. Highly fizzy body. Bone-dry mid-palate, even some mineral dryness shows up. Nice effort for sure. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Updated: Oct 14, 2009In short: A very rustic and floral Saison. I liked it a lot
How: 750ml, about 6 months old. Sent up north to Montreal by Kegbear, thanks a million Craig
The look: A gusher. Partly cloudy golden body topped by a large white head
In long: Nose has a nice farmhouse & old attic character along with some spiciness (black pepper mainly). Taste is pleasantly rustic. A smooth fluffy body, some light metallic/rusty notes, quite a bit of wood (cedar mainly), a whole lot of dry floral hops, dry caramel, earthy notes, a light orange peels presence, a few herbs notes, birch tree and a very light brown sugar presence. But overall what stood out is its rustic character that cannot be describe by a flavour word, because what does it mean to taste very rustic… going down on a countryside hillbilly housewife who hasn’t bath for a week? If so I’m selling my loft, buying a big pickup with curtains and going cruising. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2009 25 oz bottle, shared by somebody at my house. Pours a very hazy yellow body with a huge fizzy white head. The nose is funky and dry with a ton of brett, heavy spices, some peppery notes, and some fresh orange rind. The flavor is funky and dry, great spiciness, earthy wheat, some brett. Finishes spicy and floral on the finish with a nice white pepper note. Very fizzy and explosive , maybe a bit too carbonated. This is just about as fruity spicy and funky as you could want in a Saison. Any more and it would be overkill. Nicely done! JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Bottle. Deep amber beer with a thick pillowy yellowish head. Aroma is quite lovely. Rich spicy nose. Clove and allspice with a lovely wheaty/rye spiciness in back. Earthy with a berryish fruitness. There is a kiss of flintiness, but I probably could have held onto this one for another year or so. Quite rustic on the nose with a great balance of spicy/grainy malts, spicy hops and a touch of fruit. This is eminently drinkable. As it warms there is a nice herbal/minty hop aroma that picks up along the back. Crackery malts, soft toast and a bit of bubble gum. The spiciness continues to pick up as it warms. Just a fantastic saison. sauceyhops (104), carlsbad, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a deep hazy copper color ale with a super huge white foamy head with good retention with some great lacing. Aroma of light funky ester with some fruit notes also discernable. Taste is a mix between some fruity ester with light funk and a nice Belgian malt backbone with some subtle dry hops also noticeable. Full body with limited filtration and perfect carbonation while alcohol is very well hidden. Very well done but lacking some character to be truly great.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Hazy amber color with a large white head that retains very well and leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Really earthy aroma with some funk to it, not a strong funk like you might expect in a beer with Brett, but more of a musty kind of way. Hay, cracked pepper, and some ginger also come into play in the aroma; I love Saisons like this. Taste almost has a rye bread taste at the beginning. I get the same musty hay in the taste, then some pepper and other spices, before a strong earthy taste sets in. Lingering earthy, dry finish, carbonation is high. Very well made Saison, I*d love to drink this again.
