Hazy amber with a big ivory-colored head that leaves nice lacings. Quite a refreshing smell with lots of fresh fruit esters (oranges, grapefruits). Notes of malts, yeast, spices, grass and perhaps a faint hint of brett. The taste is quite fresh with pleasant fruit esters (lemon, oranges) and notes of grass on top of some malts. A strangely prominent note of mint develops early on and lingers on into the finish. A very faint hint of brett. Gentle spices. The finish is mildy bitter with notes of wheat, mint and herbal hops. A bit edgy, yet reasonably smooth. Medium body, rather full considering the style. Very lively carbonation. A decent saison with an interesting character. The minty aromas are a bit strange and the brett is really faint, but it will be nice to see what a year or to in the cellar will do to this one. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Bottle. Amber, slightly cloudy liquid with a large head that disappears rather quickly. Smell is fruity with lots of herbs and yeast. Taste is spicy and fruity with some bitterness and notes of yeast, bitter herbs and bitter orange. A good, drinkable yet rich, saison.

750ml bottle. Murky apple cider body topped by large white head. Aroma is medium sweet, Brett/lemon, some pepper, ginger, wood. Taste is medium sweet, wood, lemon/cherry, light cream, spice/pepper. Effervescent medium body, light acidity, hides alcohol well.

10/25/2009: The Bruery Saison Rue... Aroma: Huge spice aroma, peppermint, sour cherry, and a very weak Brett twist. Appearance: Cloudy; deep gold color; thin white head. Flavor: Golden raisins, faint ginger, white pepper and other spices; a little bite to the finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; well-carbonated; tingly mouthfeel. Overall: Not too bad; interesting.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #231 for this beer.

750ml bottle, honey gold color, with a super rocky white head, yeasty, mild funky, bretty, barnyard, faint earthy musty, dusty nose, with some light citrusy, green sour, stewed apple notes, with some spicy floral hop accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, light funky, bretty, fruity, sweet honeyed rye, pale, toasted malt character, with some ripe, stewed apple, faint zesty, citrusy, flower petal, spicy hop leafy accents, with a nice lively carbonation, leading towards a warming, lemony, dry hop bitterness finish.

Hazy peach hued body has a small offwhite head that leaves some sheet lacing on the goblet. Aroma of herbal and floral hops, a hint of funk, spicy rye, amd vague fruit. Zippy carbonation enlivens the dry medium body. Taste is dominated by dry herbal and earthy hops. Crusty rye bread note is nice. Vague spices and a fruity note of ripe green apples join with white pepper to add a sublime complexity. Really well executed. Reminds me of some of the Fantomes.

750ml bottle from IPB. Pours clear pale amber with a big head. Most of it fades quickly but some stays. There is some lacing but not that much. Nose is spicy (seemed like pumpkin spice). Some brett not that much. Lots of yeasty esters and some hops. Taste is spicy and fruity with lots of yeasty esters and some hops. Light bitterness on the finish. Some hints of brett. Finish is spicy and bitter. I think Saison de Lente was way better.

Bottle from Root Cellar. Poured a hazy yellow color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy, herbs, fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour witty flavor with a medium to heavy spicy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. I would recommend this to a friend.
