COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison Rue is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned, Belgian/French-style farmhouse ale. This is a beer of subtlety and complexity, with malted rye, spicy, fruity yeast notes, biscuit-like malt backbone and a slight citrus hop character. With age, this beer will dry out and will become more complex with rustic notes of leather and earth from the contribution of a wild yeast strain. Being a saison, Saison Rue is ambiguous unto itself as it is a different beer when fresh and when aged.

Pours a golden yellow from the bottle, gushed over, with lots of bubbly white head and light lacing. Aroma of brett, lemon, grass, funkiness. Taste is similar, sour and funky, bubbly on the tongue. Pretty damn good.

Pours an amber body with a medium head. Super nice aroma of fruit and a little funk. Taste is as nice with hayish tones paired with a little fruit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to tulip. Mildly hazy dark amber, highly carbonated, bubbly head. Aroma of apple cider, mild warm spices, very mild funk. Complex taste sweet apple-ish backbone yet dryness comes in quickly with earthiness and mild sourness and old-school hops. Very nice.

Aroma: The aroma is rye malt and spices, some yeast, a bit of fruit, lighter aroma overall
Appearance: It pours an unclear amber-orange color with a beige head and some spotty lacework
Flavor: Tastes very clean, light sweet, lightly tart too, light-medium bitter, spice finish
Palate: Lighter bodied, with average carbonation, and just an overall very clean mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Thought this was an interesting beer in the fact that the rye and spice were really the majority of what came through in both flavor and aroma. As I let it warm I kept expecting something else to show up like a more pronounced yeast component, funk, some citrus, or something else to really step up, but all those components remain fairly subtle throughout. I really did enjoy drinking this, but overall it is quite subtle. With that subtly comes plenty of respect from me, as thereís nothing to cover any flaws and there arenít any flaws present. This one is made to be drank not pondered, and there ainít nothing wrong with that. Super drinkable. Iíd have believed this was anywhere from 4% up. At 8.5% clearly this is a dangerous one. If your looking for something that drinks like a table beer with twice the alcohol this is a great choice.

Bottle from BCS. Bottled on 10/23/2013. Pours a clear gold with a 2 finger champagne like head that lingers. Light bretty nose with some light barnyard. Much stronger aromas of pear, green apple, muscat and plum. Above average carbonation with a medium to medium light body. Sweet but not overly so. Lots of complex fruit with a sherry-like creamy texture. Very chardonnay like. Nice lightly sweet and fruit-forward finish. Aged really well. Smooth.

Bottle, picked up in the states a while ago. Cloudy hazy mid amber colour, decent white foam. Drunk probably a year plus old. Brett character pleasingly modest. Some funk, not much tart. Spicy. Modest bitterness. Overall pleasant to drink but not convinced all the different flavours they tried to cram in really melded together

Bottle to flute Iíve been sitting on this one for a couple year. Iíve no idea why, but I pulled it out and decided that it was time to get it done. Lemon, yeast, light pepper, wheat, hay, leather, and earth. Itís a hazy, yellowish amber, with a 2 cm very bright white, long lasting, creamy head. Taste is apple, lemon, yeast, booze, and grains.
