3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 thewolf (9848) - Kolding, DENMARK - AUG 26, 2008
Bottle @ TFODRBSG, Ulfborg, 2008.
[thank you, papsoe]
Pours hazy golden with a small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, lightly spicy with oranges, cloves and a caramel edge to it. Fine mouthfeel with a grainy edge - could perhaps do with some more fluffyness, like many other saisons. Flavour is great, though. Very nice malty balance, some fruity tartness, and a great balance of pepper and other spices. Some caramel and rye bread play along as well. Not a touch on the Jandrain we had earlier, but still wonderful.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2010 8th November 2008. Cloudy gold-amber beer, frothy white head. Flavoursome aromatic sourness and distinct spiciness. Just the right side of being over dry. Strong for a Saison.
22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! (Early hours of the morning rating). Sweet aromatics, good saison flavours. Refreshing. Better than original tasting.

TFODRBSG08 Courtesy of Papsoe. The color is hazy-golden and the head is creamy. The aroma has sweetness and notes of fruit, malt and yeast. The flavour has sweetness and a light sourness, that is far from brett-extreme. It has notes of yeast, fruit and malt.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (8954) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 20, 2009
Bottle from South Bay Drug (though I have a spare from Bottle Barn). Orange gold color with a large whitish head. Aroma is spicey over fruit and light malt. Medium body with vigorous carbonation. The brett funk is up front. Next is like sucking peach pits. Lots of sharpish spice. Puckers my mouth - i.e. astringent. Finish is mildly sweet, fruity, funky. It’s the cleanest funk (?) I can recall. The rye finally comes center stage. It’s genuinely mouthsmacking. Perhaps the best Bruery I’ve had so far.

Bottle from Root Cellar.
Poured a hazy yellow color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy, herbs, fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour witty flavor with a medium to heavy spicy sweet finish of moderate to long duration.
I would recommend this to a friend.
