French for "without a paddle", Sans Pagaie is our take on a Belgian Kriek. We added an incredible amount of cherries (whole and pureed) to this sour blonde ale and then we decided to add more. The result is a well balanced fruited sour ale, perfect on it’s own, even better with a slice of chocolate cake. 5.8% ABV, Cellerable for up to 3 years.
Note: this is a different beer than the limited Bruery Sour Cherry Kriek

Tap at The Bruery, Pinkish orange color with small whit head. Aroma of lemon zest and vinegar. Tastes of tart cherries, mild vinegar bread, barnyard and vinegar. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle shared by Tommy. This was pretty good. Bright red pour with a thin white lace. Very sour nose and flavor with a bracing lactic acidity. Guessing this was a bit aged as the fruit had faded quite a bit. Sort of reminded me of the more sour bottles of lou pepe kriek and framboise that I have had. Almost too sour for me—at least these days, but I still like it a lot.

Poured from a bomber into a The Bruery snifter a orange red with minimal head. Aroma is tart cherry shizzzzz. A sour blonde with more flavor that one would ever expect. Bitter dry finish makes this crazy!. Well done.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy pinkish/golden with an off-white head. Aroma of sourness, cherries, pale malts, and light oak. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the sourness and cherries and light oak. Average texture. A good sour.

(Rating #5484)

My Bottom Line:
Buttery cherries evolve into a sour splash, as pediococcus and wine vinegar aspects create somewhat puzzling complexity.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A circle of foam floats atop the cloudy red.
-The acidic finish is harsh but it should please those looking for intensity on that front.
-Carbonation is not as intense as I had imagined.
-Drinkability is low for this type of beer. This is a sipper, no doubt.

Is this basically Rueuze with cherries? It’s very good whatever it is. Powerful sour cherry taste, especially after it warms a bit. This is really nice, sour fans should grab it if they see it.

pours hazy almost cloudy-dirty peach-pink without a head. cherries, lots of cheesy lactos, acetic, oranges, cinnamon, perfume, quite spicy in fact. moderate carbonation, light body, puckering and spicy finish. low funk and drinkability. not only far from a kriek, but clearly unbalanced and out of control.

Hazy brown with a cream head. Nose is sour, tart, wood, and funky. Easy palate, heavy tart finish, nail polish, sour, acidic, and a great finish.

Bottle (750 ml). From Tom, thanks! Clear amber/salmon with a small ring of off-white foam. Aroma is mostly of cherries along with acetic notes and light spices (cinnamon), Taste is incredibly acetic with a ton of sour cherries and not much else. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Mouth puckering. This is probably the most acetic beer I have drank so far. Contrary to the description of the beer, this one is absolutely not well balanced. Zero drinkability. The cherries are tasty though.
