Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick’s original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

Drought. Opaque dark brown with very small beige foamy head, very little berry-like aroma, low carbonation, thin body, slightly sour roasted malt-cherry taste, medium finish with fruity aftertaste. Interesting brew.

Bottle and served in my Aventinus glass: Ruddy burnt copper, deep amber into brown hues topped by a creamy beige head but surprisingly minimal lace. The aroma has lots of dark bready notes of Vienna and Munich malts along with aromatic pils. Strange plum and vinous dark fruit esters more commonly found with Quads and Balltic Porters. Just a bit of the expected banana and clove aspect. Also some medicinal vapours that do slowly subside as it warms. The taste is pretty much what the nose previews with tons of caramelized malts and near vinous dark fruits. Again just a touch of the "weizen" flavors on the perimeter. A hint of vanilla bean as well. The mouthfeel is aggressively carbonated and a bit of the biting spicy finish. Yeah... Very much a hybrid IMO and despite the boozy nature is still nicely drinkable but is far below the upper echelon of the genre.

Draft at gingerdad. Pours a hazy brown body with thick off white lacing. Aroma is caramel, vanilla and sweet malt. Mouthfeel is medium with lots of vanilla and shoe polish coming through first, followed by notes of oak, caramel, spice and sweet malt.

Tap at Gingerman. This is a mans strong ale for sure. Nose of caramel and fruit. Tastes of toffee, candied sugar, dried fruit, cherry, tobacco, cloves, and some earth. Booze.

Draft. Brown pour. Some dark malts, bock tones. Light fruit and malt flavors. Boring, but with a weizen bock not too suprised.

Aroma is caramel, earthy, light musty nd dried fruits. Flavour isearthy musty, vanana and caramel, toffee. Some hot alcohol in the finish. Palate is medium sweet with highish carbonation.

Bottle: Dark, ruddy copper & brown with some sharp ruby edges. Big, foamy, khaki head nimbly sits on top. Aroma of prunes covered in caramel sauce, sweet CaraMunich malt overdose, mildly vinous red grape (almost like a trappist ale) with lighter finishings of Belgian yeast, clove, & some spice. Lots of that deep prune & red grape in the flavor; again, similar to the vinous aspects of a dark trappist ale or quad. Caramel malt, residual Candi sugars, toffee, light prune juice, & a hint of doughy & spicy Belgian yeast. Sweet, but controlled pretty well. Lightly sticky body. Finish of sweet caramel & moderately vinous grape skin. Not bad.

Murky brown pour with ample head and lacing. Big aroma of banana, clove, plum, and other spice. Body is bigger than usual with a little booze showing (it’s one fault). Flavor is big too...similar to the aroma and just a bit heavier than is typical for the style. Cool to compare to Deschutes, who also just brewed a big Weizenbock. They get the nod, but this was damn good too
