Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick’s original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

750-mL bottle. Quite dark ruby-mahogany in color with a big and smooth light-khaki head. Very bready and fruity aroma of banana bread, moderate clove, a fruit medley of fresh strawberry and mango, some nutmeg, and yeasty wheat-bread dough. A bold banana flavor combines with a sweet cream tone to create a decent impression of a banana split. Nutmeg, allspice, and clove drift in the background along with a ciabatta dough flavor. Medium body with a soft, creamy texture. Not bad at all.

The beer pours a brownish/red color. Cool to see the Bruery folks going back to their homebrew roots for this one. And good to see that it is a straight up German weizenbock (ish) beer. Aroma is a bit milk chocolate covered raisin with some alcohol heat in there. The taste is pretty sweet. Getting some caramel notes here. Sort of bready and pudding tasting to me. The sweetness that I initially tasted fades away as a it drys out on the palate. Certainly a departure for the brewery but I like the adventure in this.

Aroma is nice with medium banana and chocolate notes. Lighter clove and toasted malt character. Medium light melanoidins of toasted bread and cherry. As it warns you pick up some plum and prune. Pours brown to dark brown with hints of ruby. Big, tall, thick tan head that has really nice retention. Medium lacing and medium small legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a balance between the maltiness and the fruit notes. Fairly sweet with some toasted bread, caramel, toffee, chocolate and even roast. Balanced with banana, pear, cherry, plum and prune. Moderate bitterness and low alcohol spice help cut through the sweetness and dry out the finish a bit. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation and a bit of a silkiness. Low but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty nice beer, especially the aroma but the flavor has a bit of an odd twang in the finish. I also find the beer to be a bit sweet and possibly under attenuated. I like the malt and ester complexity though and they they play off each other well.

This is one of those beers if you like it than you like it. All the reviews are personal opinions anyways. For me this beer is great. Banana, fruity, hay, reminds me of bierre garde style of beers and being in the northern style of france. I enjoy it for what it is.

Bottle purchased as a Hoarder. Poured a dark amber color. Taste was a bit of female goat fur and teet. Finished malty and spicy.

On tape at The bruery. Malt sweetness on the nose, with banana and clove subtlety on the nose as well. Sweet malt all across the palate, but approachable for the higher abv.

Tap at The Bruery thanks to BMan1113VR! Pours a full haze deep amber with excellent gray foam and webby lacing. Nose is super dense twizzlers, heavy starchy candy. Taste has some good dunkelweizen style banana bread and rye bread, but there is some odd cheesiness to the beer with flashes of harsh acid at first sip. Palate has yeast density, heavy bread.

Draft at Bruery. Pours a slightly hazy brown with khaki head. Aroma of bread and big banana. Taste is banana through and through. Ugh. Some malty bread stuff going on and Bruery house taste. Overall, pass.

on tap @ The Bruery, wonderful aroma of spicy banana nut bread with a hint of clove. Taste is very similar a bit of bubblegum and candy cake. Wonderful beer

13 dec 2013, bottle. Light brown and faintly cloudy. Nose is spiced amber ale. Med body and mildly fizzy, slightly syrupy. Sugary syrup malt. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
