Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick’s original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

Mildly sweet tones that are inundated by bread-like consistency. It has an articulate complexity that isn’t too punchy or resoundingly overbearing. Pretty solid weizen bock.

Bomber to tulip. Hazy dark amber pour with a medium beige head. Nose is banana, cola, bread. Flavor follows with caramel, fruity esters; mostly sweet with some bready qualities. Interesting and enjoyable.

750mL bottle pours with a murky amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pears and apple esters that make it seem malt liquor like before it heads into some mild nutty and roasted malt notes. The taste has a smooth sweetness of pear and apple fruity esters and then it picks up a mix of raisins and roasted malts. Pretty good.

Murky brown pour. Malty and sweet a bit over the top. Pears and apples, honey. Tastes like a roasted applesauce to me.

First bottle of the night for #bottlecherwednesdays at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. 750ml poured into tulip. Liquid is reddish brown with some cloudiness, a tall tan head forms than fades slowly to a film. Streaks of lace are left behind. Aroma is caramel, banana, clove, and spice cake. Taste is medium-high sweet with caramel and fruity esters. A small amount of spicy bitterness comes on the swallow. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, slightly bitter finish with lingering sweetness.

Reddish brown color, moderate sized head, good lace/retention. Aroma is big caramel and banana, lesser notes of clove and wheat. Medium to full body, low sweetness, quite drinkable, creamy, well balanced.

750-mL bottle. Quite dark ruby-mahogany in color with a big and smooth light-khaki head. Very bready and fruity aroma of banana bread, moderate clove, a fruit medley of fresh strawberry and mango, some nutmeg, and yeasty wheat-bread dough. A bold banana flavor combines with a sweet cream tone to create a decent impression of a banana split. Nutmeg, allspice, and clove drift in the background along with a ciabatta dough flavor. Medium body with a soft, creamy texture. Not bad at all.
