COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in bourbon barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile.
The previous release of Smoking Wood was aged in rye whiskey barrels while this more limited version was aged in bourbon barrels, contributing a different nuance to the already complex ale.

Bottle share thanks to Taylor. A ton of booze in the nose. Of course. A light smokiness but not overpowering. Taste is booze and chocolate with a touch of roast. Solid. A lot less smoke than I expected.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, lightly smoked malts, some roast and chocolate from the malts, and light caramel. Flavor the same with a great blend of bourbon, the lightly smoked malts, and dark malts. Smooth texture. A good beer.

Pours black with a thin mocha head. Aroma has dark fruits, roasty caramelized brown sugars and subtle but firm smoke. Flavor has mild boozy bourbon, great sweet roastiness and awesome smoke!! Fuck!! Mouthfeel is foreplay and the finish is sex.

Pours a lovely dark chocolate body with a mocha head. Smells of bourbon and smoked malt. Tastes of sweet malt with a nice smokey flavor that’s offset with the bourbon. Goes down easy with a hint of a bite.

Pour on tap at the brewery, thick black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of thick bourbon, oak, vanilla, slight booze, nice dark chocolate, smoke notes in there balance, hints of coffee, roast as well. Taste is a mix of thick chocolate, coffee, roast into a nice smoke, spicy middle, the bourbon and oak come through with hints of vanilla, finishing sweet, slightly dry. Tasty.

Dark brown in color, head is a lot more dark than the rye version... Aroma is smoked, peated malts... Flavor is smoked malts, spiciness from rye, but with nice balance from bourbon aging... Vanilla, sweetness on the palate... Great beer, better than the rye ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Deep cola, nearly black, thin sudsy tanish head, little lacing.   Does have legs, like an oily lacing.   Woody, alcohol, graham cracker, and roasty chocolate.   Smooth soft bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and graham cracker on the tongue  . Sweet on the tongue, smooth, roasty but not bitter or ashy.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Sweet bourbon, graham cracker, and chocolate on the finish.   This is great stuff!   Thanks Ron!
