COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in bourbon barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile.
The previous release of Smoking Wood was aged in rye whiskey barrels while this more limited version was aged in bourbon barrels, contributing a different nuance to the already complex ale.

A really nice beer. Pours brown with a thin head. Aroma is smoke and wood! Surprise!!! with a nice sweetness to the smoke creating hints of burnt sugar and molasses. Taste is sweet and smoky. Palate is not too thick. Overall it’s a nice beer. I’m not sure I’d go drinking the whole bottle but it’s great to share.

Dark and oily pour with low tan head. Smoked really intense, with coffe, chocolate and cocoa background. Bourbon barrel hints was a little bit covered by the smoke. High body

Bottle split at the sleepy-rapping tasting at Ronny & Alex’s pad, CBC fine tuner, 30/04/15. Light black with decent tan spotting and edgework. Nose is smoked malt, spice, toffee, chocoalte, tar. Taste comprises rich roast, toffee, dark chocolate, wood barrell, subtle bourbon, tar, light smoke. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tickle of warming alcohol. Decent smoked impy.

Bigger tasting at Ronny’s flat, Copenhagen. Opaque black - brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, trace of paint like ester. Some alcohol heat but not too much considering. Dry cocoa. Modest smoke. Little fruity bourbon. Smooth airy finish. Fairly easy going for it’s abv.

Bottle thanks to Miguel for sharing. Murky brown pour with a small head. Aroma is dominated by smoked ham with hints of caramel and chocolate. Tastes like smooth smoked ham and bacon. Light caramel sweetness. Finishes with some light oaky bourbon. Smooth and very easy to drink for 13%. Really liked this.

Dear God how can I drink all this? Thick deep brown, big aroma of bourbon and light smoke. Nice bourbon head, but very smooth and dangerously easy to drink, vanilla, light smoke, soy, figs. Really really good.

750ml of 2014 edition. Pours a thick black color without much of a head. A lot smoother than it was when first released around 9 months ago. Smoke is much more prevalent and the bourbon has mellowed.

Cheers man! Cet étrange paradoxe me réjouit!
