Smoked Imperial Rye Porter aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. A rich porter layered with rye spiciness and earthy smoke, caramel-like flavors, roasty malt and oaky deliciousness.
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in rye whiskey barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile. This is one of our favorite beers at the moment, we hope you agree.

Opaque black brown, minimal tan head. Molasses, vanilla. Light toasted cereal grains, some darker roasted coffee. Toffee. Some bitterness, mostly sweet and smoky. Pretty upfront alcohol. Heavier body, quite chewy. Very little carbonation. A bit of oiliness. Long, long finish developing towards back of the mouth. Quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big ol’ beer. Pumpernickel, coffee, cocoa, roast aroma. Flavor’s similar to nose, bittersweet upfront with a hint of tang. Huge rich round body. A bit boozy. Super good.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have a nice roasted malt, smoked wood, cherrywood is especially noticeable, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, more spicy rye than the bourbon version which makes sense, big beer without being overpowering, enjoyable.

Smoking Wood Rye Whisky 10%so I guess it was the 2011 vintage. A deep black with ruby highlights and a filmy beige head. Smoked cherry, BBQ sauce and some mild medicinal character. Soft mouthfeel and medium bodied. The taste is smokey, BBQ sauce, cherry, piquante but sweet and balanced. I enjoyed it, now where are my nuggets?

Black cola pour thanks to Lincoln. Aroma is subtle smoke, oak. Taste is vanilla, smoke, oak, very mild bourbon. Dont dig this one but then not much for smoked beers generally.

Draft pour at Rustico. Dark black color with a dark tan head. Aroma was decent smoke notes, roasted malts, some woody notes. Smoky meat character. Booze is noticeable. Flavor is similar, with notes of smoke, oak notes, burnt malts, black coffee.

Bottle 1 Pint 9.4 Fl. oz. @Naintré. With dad and Cyril during a "palet" game. A shining pitch black beer with a medium creamy beige head ; good retention. First, roast and toast, light smoke, light alcohol. Then through tasting, coffee like in ice-cream, chocolate, wood, dark fruits. Medium sweet, round but also warming ; well-balanced ; light bitter. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, chocolate coffee sweet warming lasting finish. Overall, delicious like a good coffee ice-cream, powered with chocolate, added with some drops of good peat-whisky.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2015 Bottle (750ml): Black with ittle head. Aroma is most the whiskey barrel. Taste whiskey barrel and roasted malts. Quite a bit of chocotate too. Very little bitterness. I got a taste of the smoke in the end after a few sips when I breath out . Very different, but nice.

Bottle thanks to markwise: Poured a dark black with marble brown hints, head was brown. Aroma was smoke, peat, woodsy, and alcohol. Aroma is rye whiskey, spicy, mellow wood, and caramel malt.

Pours a thick black colour with minimal coffee coloured head. Strong aroma of treacle and rye with slightly chocolaty smell too. Very thick on the palate with a lingering fizz. Tastes quite alcoholic with a bit of a whisky kick. Strong treacle flavour and an almost burnt chocolate taste. (K)
