COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smoked Imperial Rye Porter aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. A rich porter layered with rye spiciness and earthy smoke, caramel-like flavors, roasty malt and oaky deliciousness.
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in rye whiskey barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile. This is one of our favorite beers at the moment, we hope you agree.

Forget it. I’ll start by saying that I LOVE THIS BEER. Draft in South Florida. Pours a very black with a nice, creamy head. (I had a 6 oz. pour in a small snifter.) The smell is of oak, toasted cocoa, malt, and maybe a hint of vanilla. The taste is very smooth without the heavy alcohol taste of a 13% ABV. Overall taste is of malt, toasted nuts, vanilla, and a slight woody/smokie flavor. I can’t get enough of this beer. Thanks Bruery.

Bottle at The Bruery tasting at Beer & Beyond shop. Deep brown almost opaque black with a small tan head. Very rich aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, peat, coffee, vanilla, oak, soya and carobs. Taste - sweet, roasty flavors with chocolate, coffee and caramel notes, prunes, licorice, vanilla and smoky undertones, very complex and well balanced. Rather full bodied, syrupy and sticky on palate, smooth mouthfeel. Getting better and interesting while warms up. Can sip this beer all night long. Wow!

WOW!!! That's all I can say! Nice wood aroma...the smell of barrels. I've never had rye whiskey before but this could make me try it. Nice smoky flavor. You can taste the alcohol as you sip. Warms the throat for sure. I'll buy more of this while it's still around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Dark black with quickly diminishing low brown head. Great aroma of blue cheese, dark chocolate, woody, licorice, vanilla. Very complex flavor, vanilla, smoked malt, dark chocolate, soya, licorice. Mouthful and creamy. Heavy body. Sweetish aftertaste. Amazing beer!

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Near black in colour with moderate carbonation. Heavy barrel aromas of oak, vanilla and iodine, along with notes of molasses, toasted nuts, and chocolate syrup. Tastes a bit like a smoky Islay scotch, salt, dried fruit, and more chocolate syrup. Heavy bodied and not lacking in boozy heat. An intense experience. Definitely a sipping beer.

Aroma is lightly smoked, dark malt, oak. Tons of flavour and really well integrated flavours from the spicy rye, barrels, smoke, and dark malts. Alcohol is noticeable but not burning for 13%. Really nice.

Pours a rich sable with a thick, though effervescent, dark tan head. Aroma has a strong woody whisky overtone, plus notes of roast malt and molasses and a hint of horehound. Smoky wood dominates the flavor, backed up by malty, rye, molasses and miso tones. Viscous, oily texture has a strong fizz and leaves a smoky, woody, earthy finish. I’m confident that you "wood" love this one!

Bottled @ Zeebra#2. The aroma has peated smoke tones, coffee, roast. Black coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is moderate bitter, has sweetness, raisin, peat. The finish a bit thin.

Draft pour at Bambinos. Pours near black with a boozy, caramel, almost off putting aroma, but with the high abv, it grows on you. That being said, unbelievably smooth flavor. Love this beer, and very unique too. Dark fruit and slight cherry flavor with a nice wood chip smokey background. Really nice, smokey strong beer without the boozy flavor. Such a good beer here. Very impressed.

Poured from a 13% bottle into a snifter black with a beige head. Aroma is straight up rye whiskey booze. Slight smoke. Flavor is sweet molasses. Faint smoke is not distracting from the slam of rye whiskey. Vanilla there. Spice is minimal. Burn to the throat finish. Soy sauce thick on the palate. Laying down 3 bottles for future reference. This is a "holy shit" brew!
