COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smoked Imperial Rye Porter aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. A rich porter layered with rye spiciness and earthy smoke, caramel-like flavors, roasty malt and oaky deliciousness.
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in rye whiskey barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile. This is one of our favorite beers at the moment, we hope you agree.

Draft at Tap n Handle. Pours black with a light brown head that lingers and laces the glass with rings. Smells smoky, spicy, malty, like whiskey and like wood/campfire. Medium plus body with an oily texture. A smoked and spiced flavor that hides the alcohol well. Toasty and caramel malts with a touch of vanilla balance it out, pretty smooth overall. Of the very few smoked beers I’ve tried, this one is my favorite.

AN excellent beer that could be phenomenal with more body and a tad more carbonation. Huge smokey maple rye nose. Big tarry smoke flavours but palate fatigue sets in quickly. A bottle to share most definitely.

Dark brown color. Big molasses, rye, dark chocolate, smoked bacon, soy sauce, off sweet nose. The mouth is medium full, tons of rye with molasses, charcoal, black liquorice, a touch salty, not too boozy. For the alcohol it’s not too boozy. Lingering rye. Very good

Bottle. Pours a deep black color with a thick tan head. Real thick vanilla aroma with whiskey notes. Rye malt as well. Incredible taste. Such complex flavors. Whiskey, vanilla, brown sugar, and toffee come to mind. Very, very rich. Some molasses as well. An incredible beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle: This one pours an inky, opaque dark brown color. There was just a wisp of a dark tan head on it. It has a big, rich nose. Some smokiness, rye, cocoa, slight spice, maybe some coffee and vanilla. The taste is very good. Many flavors are melding together, but none are really overpowering. Rye, smokiness, cocoa, some alcohol, some caramel with some other stuff going on in there also. This is quite nice.

2014 Bottle Ridiculously rich deep dark brown body with a black body and a thick, three centimetre tall rich brown body. Aroma of tons of rye, molasses, brown sugar, prunes and tons of roasted malt. Full-bodied; Super strong rye flavour with a lot of specialty grains, some pungent squash and rich alcohol notes coupled with a large spice and especially strong sugar flavour with the molasses by far the strongest flavour throughout with a lot of rye notes and a ton of smoked malt notes. Overall, a very strong beer with a very rich flavour and a super strong finish. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Argonaut Liquors in Denver, Colorado from haddon90 on 10-May-2014 sampled with him on 07-June-2014 - Thanks Phil!!!

750 ml bottle (2014, 13% ABV) poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours dark brownish black with a finger of tan head. Aromas of whiskey, caramel, smoke. Tastes of dark chocolate, whiskey, rye, caramel, some booze, smoke. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Oily syrupy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Rye whiskey seems to overpower some of the other flavors. Definitely better than the infected 2012 bottle I had previously.
