Really enjoyed this one .. . Pours out a fizzy orange amber .. Solid foam .. . Kumquats, that white stuff on orange peels, yeast, and hay .. . Refreshing, a nice tartness too .. . . If you ever feel like you’re having a bad day, just remember some adults have braces.

Bottle at Bruce’s, big thanks to Kenny. It pours deep orange-amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, kumquat, citrus rind, marmalade, fresh orange juice, some acidity and barnyard. The taste is crisp, sour sherbet, big sourness, kumquat, orange, tangerine, candy, tangy, decent acidity, wood and pickled onion Monster Munch with a dry, tangy finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Crisp and sour. Very tasty, one of the Bruery’s best sours.

A - pours hazy light amber with 1 finger quickly dissipating head. S - aromas of strong caramel malts, kumquats (the peel and juice), rye, and candied sugar. M - tart medium body with a slightly thicker slipper feel. Lingering malty sweet tart end. T - nice tart/sweet citrusy mess up front, sweet juice, tart juice, peel, and citric acid. palate becomes tang(the powdered orange drink mix) and kumquat. End is lingering caramel malts and citrus peel. O - a nice step above regular SitR. 3.9

Bottle, 09/20/2013. Pours dark brown orange, thin head fades to a haze on the surface, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is very fruity, kumquat and citrus, apricot, pulpy, definite lactic sourness, touch of vinegar, vanilla yogurt and wood on the finish. Taste mostly follows suit - bright kumquat, citrus tartness, acidic juicy tropical sweetness with lactic sour notes, fruity vanilla in the finish. Medium body, refreshing, not overly sharp or sour so fairly drinkable. Liked this much more than the base version, very nice.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - many thanks to Kenneth. Pours hazy amber with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma is lightly funky, some tangy lemon, some berries. Light to medium sweet flavor, lots of fruity tones, peach, kumquat, lemon, balanced tang. Light to medium bodied with fine to average, massaging carbonation. Nice tang on the finish, further citric fruit notes, lemon, kumquat, some mandarin orange, grapefruit and peach. Very drinkable. Solid stuff.

Draft. Dark orange pour with white head. Fruitier aroma than the normal. Fruit accents the tartness very well, nice tart but fruity sour.

750-ml bottle. Dark amber in color with a bubbly, uneven head. Amazing sweet-and-sour aroma of even-keeled lactic funk, lemon zest, a slight floral tone with a big burst of kumquat at the end. The taste closely follows the nose with a graceful acidic tartness and a hint of spiced rye, then the fruity kumquat sourness obliterates all other flavors. One of the most pleasant aspects is a tangy, lingering finish carries on forever. A nice fruit sour that showcases kumquats’ tartness, but the sour-on-sour characteristic is a bit much at times as it completely dominates the other flavors normally present in Sour in the Rye.

Ba bottle share, you jealous yet? Big tartness followed by stone fruits. Body is solid and acidic.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2014 Pour is almost completely flat, mouthfeel is totally dead, which amplifies the sourness into a real esophagus-wrecker. Aroma way less vibrant than base beer, has a muddled fruit juice character that might be good if the beer had carbonation but...it doesn’t. I’d like to say I drank even 6oz of this but...I couldn’t get it down. Such a shame, hope to one day rerate this with something close to a 5 than a .5. Now I’m drinking a carbonated bottle. The tartness us a bit overwhelming but this a pretty tasty beer.

Dark amber pour, no head, spotty lacing Smell and taste of plum, stone fruit, and brett. Pretty sour, and much more unique than the original sitr
