Bottle split with my better half on the deck this evening. The beer is dark orange, actually darker than I expected. Small head that fades after a few moments. The kumquat is there in the nose, and emerges more and more as the beer is allowed to warm. Limes, lime juice, oak, bread, rye. The beer is sufficiently tart and sour, with a nice pucker in the finish, though not as piquant as Beauregard, which I had a few days ago. A nice showcase of the kumquat fruit. Balanced by a prominent rye malt body. Medium bodied and tangy. Acidic and vibrant on the palate. Overall, this is another solid brew from The Bruery. I enjoyed this one, but the Sour in the Rye w/ peaches is certainly the best variant to date. Glad to be a member of the Hoarder’s Society and have more of these for the future.

Bottle at RBSG. Pour is orange with minimal head, very tart aroma with some nice fruits coming through. Can’t say I can positively identify the taste of kumquat, but I like this beer quite a bit.

Bottle. Fruity pear apricot peach. Somewhat muddled spiced dough rye malt backing. Some Brett sweat. A bit too big. Could use more focus. Not bad though.
