3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Churchkey. Pours a light brown/mahogany, hazy, with small white head. Nose and flavor bring big acetic vinegar notes, along with touches of raisin, booze like brandy or cognac, and light hints of rye malt base. Pretty good and not offensive in any way, but pretty one-dimensional as well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. This one opened with foam slowly pouring out the top, not a gusher though. Cloudy orange color with off white head. Aroma was vanilla, rye, barnyard, apricot, and sour. Taste was the same with some barrel and a slight sweetness. The rye fits right in with the sourness, giving it a little bit of spice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The aroma is strongly funky and complex. Wild animals and vinegar and cheese are up front with hints at fruits, oak, champagne and rye. Using rye in a sour is so smart. The bold and clean funky, sourness blends perfectly with the rye-tartness. To say this is a dry beer is an understatement. There are hints of fruit, flowers, oak to back up the vinegar and barnyard flavor. This is a legit, top-notch sour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a copper tone with a thin white head. Aroma is fruity and a bit farmhouse smelling, slight must, rye is mild. Taste is sweet upfront. then goes to tart peach skins , vinegar ,background of oaky vanilla hints, sour citrus, only a slight rye spice that’s barely though, finishes giod and dry. Good sour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012, almost exactly a year old now. Pungent, intensely flavored nose & palate start to finish. Rye grain has faded (thankfully!), replaced by soured yeast and malts. Damn, this has turned into a fantastic American sour.
