COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour in the Rye is an American wild ale. A challenging beer to brew due to the substantial amount of rye malt, but you’ll be glad we took the time. The character of the rye asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor, and contributes a full body not generally found in sour beers. Pleasantly sour with notes of tart cherry, rustic earth and vanilla notes from a year-plus of barrel aging.

Sampled at DLD 2013. It poured a clear amber color with a white head. The aroma was of red wine and a fair amount of sour fruits. The taste was smooth and a bit tart and was on the spot as far as sours go. Very tasty.

Smells tart, sour, and spicey. Very sour taste. Strong flavor from the wine barrels as well. This beer is super tart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This one poured a hazy dark orange color with an off white head. Aroma was of rye, light vinegar, lemons, smoked malt, and yeast. Flavor was fairly tart, but not quite as strong as other Bruery sours i’ve had. Not aedic like other ones either, more lactic and refreshing. overall a nice sour from the Bruery.

Not huge on sours with rye but as usual The Bruery always finds a way to take a style I am not crazy about and actually make me go back and buy another bottle to try again.

Tap at fireworks - pours hazy amber with a big Cabernet, must, sour cherry, vanilla, and rye aroma. Taste is just this side of being too sour, but they’ve restrained themselves. Overall, very, very nice!

4/25/13. 750mL bottle thanks to nulledge (also tasted at CBC). Hazy golden pour with a nice khaki head. Spiced cream aroma with wood, wine, sour sweet tarts, and grapes. Very tart flavor, more chalky sour sweet tarts, lingering sour acidity, wood, and vanilla. Finishes quite dry. Tasty!

750---->globe. Pours an orangeish amber with a small, quickly dissipating head and no lace. Aroma is funky grapes and apples. Taste is super sour acidic grapes and a touch of peppery spice. Medium mouthfeel with very little carbonation. A top notch sour in every sense.
