This American Wild Rye Ale was brewed with a substantial portion of rye malt, and the spicy character of the grain asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor. Add in sour cherry notes from our special blend of micro-organisms and vanilla from the red wine barrels and you’ve got a mouthful!

Bottle at Gaasa, june 10th 2014. Hazy orange body with a thick white head. Funky aroma with citrus fruits, cherry, rye. Taste on the sour side, tart fruit, funk, yet with a noticable caramel and rye presence. Fresh sour finish with peach, an amazing beer.

Bottle, 112712, lot 5. Poured a hazy orangey straw color with an ok head and weak lacing per the style. Aroma of sour lemons, horseblanket, tart apples. Flavor followed, tons of tart and sourness, faint rye spice in the finish, but nothing prominent. Some barrel oak in the finish. Might as well have been Joe’s super sour puckering killer lambic if you ask me. Definitely a strong sour brew, but mouth puckering and acidic finish for sure.

2013 bottle. Hazy copper pour with quick dissipating white head. Aroma has apricots, pineapple, tart cherries, oak. Quite sour up front with some unripe blackberry and cherry notes, wet wood. Not much sweetness. Tart and dry through the finish. Slight funk as well. Nice.

Clear red/orange with a small off-white foam. Sour and spicy aroma, dried red fruit, and some straw. Musty funk flavors from this one without any rotting spoilage. Cherry flavors with a full body make this a nice sour ale! Actually gets better as you drink. Tartness lasts well into the finish.

First off - damn good beer. I love sours and this is impressive. Aroma is a bit of barn and funk as expected, but the spicy woody moldy fruity sour (very) tart flavor is just fantastic. Complex and full bodied despite being very tart upfront. Highly recommended if you are a sour person!

75 cl bottle.
Pours clear mahogany color with a minimal to no head. Apricot, rowan berries, yeast and herbs on the aroma. Rowan berries and apricot on the flavor, yeast, some wood and even more wood. Very crisp and tangy, not for the faint of heart.
