This American Wild Rye Ale was brewed with a substantial portion of rye malt, and the spicy character of the grain asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor. Add in sour cherry notes from our special blend of micro-organisms and vanilla from the red wine barrels and you’ve got a mouthful!

Clear red/orange with a small off-white foam. Sour and spicy aroma, dried red fruit, and some straw. Musty funk flavors from this one without any rotting spoilage. Cherry flavors with a full body make this a nice sour ale! Actually gets better as you drink. Tartness lasts well into the finish.

First off - damn good beer. I love sours and this is impressive. Aroma is a bit of barn and funk as expected, but the spicy woody moldy fruity sour (very) tart flavor is just fantastic. Complex and full bodied despite being very tart upfront. Highly recommended if you are a sour person!

75 cl bottle.
Pours clear mahogany color with a minimal to no head. Apricot, rowan berries, yeast and herbs on the aroma. Rowan berries and apricot on the flavor, yeast, some wood and even more wood. Very crisp and tangy, not for the faint of heart.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark golden amber colour with a small head. Aroma of red berries, sorbus, some caramel sweetness and herbs. Rich flavour of sharp and tart berries, sorbus, herbal notes, biscuit, bready maltiness, mild lactic acid, some sweetness and wood. Medium bodied. Sorbus is all over the place here. Very dry and sour. Alcohol warms.

75 cl bottle vintage 2014 (7,6%) @ olio
Aroma is tart and sour with rowanberries and some lactic tones. Flavour is very tart with rowan- and lingonberries, some grapefruit and citrus. Could not locate the rye, a rowanberry juice this is. And not my thing.

750ml bottle

Pours reddish orange with a foamy head. Aroma of tartish berries, malts, rye, sourish cherries and wood. Taste is sour, woody and oaky with notes of spices, rye, cherries and rowanberries. Finish is mouth drying sour, woody and tart with loads of berries, cherries and rowanberries. Quite aggressive and heavy.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to PriorL & Mathieu87! Tasted side by side with Kumquats & Peaches version. Pours dark amber, off-white head only on the sides, almost looks like a very old lambiek. Bitter oak, dusty, brett mixed with toffee, sugar, nuts, leather base, spice, feels vintage & bit thinned out, dusty old lemon, interesting mix, oily nutty with little carbonation. Faintly very old bit past it lambiek-like. Musty, old not bad.

Clouded amber pour with a thin off white head. Aroma is spicy with yeast, rye, and a bit of caramel. Flavor is sweet, acidic, but balances nicely. A sour tart finishes makes for one awesome beer
