COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American Wild Rye Ale was brewed with a substantial portion of rye malt, and the spicy character of the grain asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor. Add in sour cherry notes from our special blend of micro-organisms and vanilla from the red wine barrels and you’ve got a mouthful!

From notes. Enjoyed at the Ashley’s Rare & Vintage Beer TasteFest on June 07. Vintage 2012. The pour is a light gold with a decent off-white head and some great lacing. The aroma is definitely sour and spicy. There is a good fruitiness to couple the sour, and a light funk as well. The flavor is a blast of our, and then a nice light fruitiness and a decent spiciness pops up. The mouthfeel is thin, but well carbonated with a fruity, sour and lingering aftertaste. Well done.

Muddy amber color. Very nice aroma, fruity, funky, woody. The flavor is very lemony and acidic; in my opinion another unclassy attempt by American breweries.

2014 bottle split with a friend, poured into a snifter. Amber/gold pour, slight head. Big tart, slightly spicy aroma with a bit of a red wine nose. Taste is puckering, bright tropical fruits and grape. No real rye character until some of the tartness fades. Overall a bit on the sweet side. Really gets the sweet tarts vibe. Definitely a sipper.

Pours a hazy amber color with white fizzy head. Lots of tartness, some cherry, and rye spice on the nose; follows onto the palate. Just not digging this one. Not as good as some of the others.

Pours orange amber, fizzy, airy head. Nose is sharp, acidic, touch of cherry. Lemon candy, vinous, acidic, struggle to find faint rye, funk comes through in finish. Pretty dry, moderate tannins, medium body. Good, but I can see how a fruit addition would make this truly great.

Appearance: orange brown, little to zero light tan head, no lacing. Aroma: very sour/tart aroma of citrus, light graham cracker and honey, some barnyard funk as well. Taste: tart, with marmalade, balsamic vinegar, citric acid, light black pepper and honey smacks. Finish: firm palate, slowly warming, possibly from the rye? Notes: Would have liked a little more rye heat, and the tartness really pushed the envelope, but the familiar and reassuring rush of thirst inducing post-sour finish in every swallow was extremely inviting. 2014 vintage.

Pours a murky apricot with a low white head. Aromas of apricot, peach, funk, oak, honey, some citrus. Taste is funk, apricot, oak, honey, citrus, peach, apple. Mouthfeel is tart and dry with medium carbonation. Afertraste is apple, apricot, honey, funk. Just great!

Nose is very Flemish ale-ish, nice dark copper color with light bubbles. The first thing I get is salt, and lots of it! after that is a nice tart with a hint of cherry and lemon. the finish lingers on for a wile. A very enjoyable brew.

Bottle, about one and a half years old, I’m told. Pours pinkish amber with small film of white bubbles. Aroma is lemony sourness, vinegar, peach, strawberry. Taste is very sour cherry, peach, slight meatiness. Puckery. Pretty high carbonation. Good.
