COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American Wild Rye Ale was brewed with a substantial portion of rye malt, and the spicy character of the grain asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor. Add in sour cherry notes from our special blend of micro-organisms and vanilla from the red wine barrels and you’ve got a mouthful!

The aroma is strongly funky and complex. Wild animals and vinegar and cheese are up front with hints at fruits, oak, champagne and rye. Using rye in a sour is so smart. The bold and clean funky, sourness blends perfectly with the rye-tartness. To say this is a dry beer is an understatement. There are hints of fruit, flowers, oak to back up the vinegar and barnyard flavor. This is a legit, top-notch sour.

Unbelievable sour. Home run in my book. Many pleasant citrus notes with minor hops notes makes this great for me. Not to overpowering of any one element.

Bottle to glass. Pours a murky burnt orange color with a light tan head. Aroma is mostly tart, white wine, a hint of rye. Flavor is intensely sour with a little bit of rye hiding in the background. Light to medium in body with a long lingering oily sour. Exquisite beer!

Pours out light coppery gold with light white head. All barnyard funk in the nose. Pulls in medium bodied with deep sour with a bit of rye spice. One of my favorite sours.

2012 vintage. Pours a deep copper color with a finger of eggshell foam. Lots of mango, cherry fruit up front with some grainy spice in the back. Tons of tart acidic sourness runs through the length of the beer... after a half a glass the acidity takes over and rips the enamel off my teeth. Really nice for the first ten minutes but the overwhelming acetic qualities take over my palette and destroy the nuances that were apparent in the beginning of the pour.

Bottle @ skortila, courtesy of caesar. Hazy orange coloured with an off-white head. Nose is slightly sour, citric acid, fruity, some tartness. Flavour is light malty, citric acid, cherries, bit of wood, lots of fruits. Finish is fairly dry and slightly bitter. Really pleasant.

Pretty orange red pour. Very barnyardy aroma. Flavor is interesting and complex; multiple stages hit you while drinking it. It starts barnyardy and ends tasting like sweet tarts (no kidding) with some light grape notes in the middle.

A solid sour rye ale, very drinkable.Tasty, though too much cloves and pepper for me.

Bottle thanks to mrebeks for sharing. Aromas are barnyard funk, sour overripe cherries and lemons, hay, and vinegar. Taste is extremely sour and acidic. Loaded with sour fruit, barnyard funk, vinegar, green apple, and oak. This is a big sour and it’s too much for me. I’d probably like the fruited versions better.

Draft at Lord Hobo, golden orange pour, medium body. Lemon citrusy funk and sourness. Quite delicious, great mouthfeel. Superb

Bottle from Lazy Dog. Pours a hazy amber with only a hint of cream colored head. Aroma of sour and funk and citrus. Taste of lemons and funk. Makes me think of the Crybaby candies.
