Sour in the Rye is an American wild ale. A challenging beer to brew due to the substantial amount of rye malt, but you’ll be glad we took the time. The character of the rye asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor, and contributes a full body not generally found in sour beers. Pleasantly sour with notes of tart cherry, rustic earth and vanilla notes from a year-plus of barrel aging.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Super clear, amber body with a fuzzy off white head. Aroma is crazy tart, lots of vinegar and lactic acid, wet oak, lemon and light cherry skins. Mild tannic, smells so tart. Taste is very sour; vinegar, oak, acidic and lactic acid, stone fruit skins, some rye dryness, so tart and puckering and good. Thin, wet crispy mouth feel with a dry finish. A very nice "go-to" sour. I love the vinegary, lactic, & acidic nature of this beer... Wheelhouse brew, very good stuff.

Slightly hazy amberish copper with a thin foamy white head. Deep funky sour and earthy rye malt, fantastic underlying sweetness, a little lacto fruitiness, wood, guava, rye, brown sugar, sour yeast, tart passion fruit and green apple juice. Stupid good flavor with sour lacto tartness, deep malt sweetness, juicy fruitiness, tropical tartness, guava, tart melon, passion fruit, green apple flesh, gentle whiskey and oak...just amazing.
