A Steinís Throw, is an 8.5% ABV amalgamation of a barley wine and a traditional stein beer. We teamed up with the staff over at TAPS Brewery in Brea to make this strong, brown ale. To add an extra layer of complexity, we heated granite rocks up to 900ļ and added it to the wort along with a generous addition of date sugar for added gravity. The result is rich with fruity esters and toffee richness but finishes dry after being fermented with yeast strains special to the Bruery and TAPS.

Bottle split at the Room 316 Tasting, Tulip Inn Bodegraven, thanks to Kenny the Bruery whore - 27/09/13. Hazed reddish amber with thinnish off white head. Nose is tarte fruits, dates, light sugar, cherry pie, caramel, earthy. Taste comprises tarte dark fruits, cake mix, cherry notes. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dryish finish with a little boozey do which on the whole is pretty well hidden. Solid stuff.

Room 316 Tulip Hotel tasting with Ian and Colin. Hazy deep amber beer with a tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and a little soft and semi dry. Sweetish caramel malt with a touch of dark fruits. Mild malt cream. Trace of spice. Light dry finish. Tastes quite Belgian and is very drinkable. The three of us polished the bottle off.
